Skywatch Friday: Time Tells in Thomaston

The first shot is the Thomaston Opera House. Below it is the factory that produced those Seth Thomas timepieces that put Connecticut on the map many moons ago. (The clock at Grand Central Station in New York City came from Thomaston.) No matter where you look in Thomaston, it seems there's a clock on a tower with the exact time!

Sandy....I changed my Sky Watch on you! I'm posting "Rita" next week instead because I decided to put my cross at sunrise photo up in celebration of Easter. Just an FYI so you don't think you're seeing a double take next week!

Hmmm. A town governed by clocks on towers and in factories, one step beyond the usual clock at the side of the bed or in the kitchen! ;-)

So interesting and great angles too! My Mom has a Seth Thomas clock which is about 100 years old. She's had it worked on and it runs great. Thanks for sharing this!

Lovely pictures. I like towns with lots of clocks, it is always handy and I like being able to rely on them and know the ones that are stuck! I don't wear a watch as I just check on the time all the time but when you are out and about it's good to know a few fixed spots where you can keep an eye on it if you need to!

Kerri said...

I LOVE them both! I love to see clocks like these! That BLUE sky in the first one is stunning!

Love the photos showing the blue sky and tower Sandy. It's nice that the clocks are taken care of too and always show the right time. Very helpful for people catching trains from the station.
