My sister, daughter, nephews, and I took a break from the American Museum of Natural History to suck in a little fresh air in Central Park. The kids had a grand old time following the paths this way and that and looking for the arches and the other curiosities of the park. The weather was iffy--meaning it is very likely to pour rain if we don't take our raincoats--but I caught a few views before the deluge.

There's a delightful contrast between the everyday and the fairy-tale in these pictures. Awesome captures!
Those shots are great. So perfectly framed.
Two beautiful pictures, Sandy. I like the framing of the first one and the color of the buildings in the second.
Beautifully composed, but what really "makes" these is the combination of composition and color. The bluish cast from (I assume) the overcast, gives these almost a sci-fi/fantasy look. Especially in the first shot. And there's an almost voyeuristic quality in the second one that feels like we're being made privy to some special secret (then again, it is Central Park, so there's no telling what's going on.)
The second shot would fit right into Carmi's thematic prompt for the week too ("Distant").
Marvelous work!
Those are lovely shots Sandy. Glad you got some shots before the deluge. My sister has a small view of Central Park from her window so I was trying to figure out if you were anywhere near her apartment. When you were at the American Museum of Natural History, you were directly across Central Park from where my sister lives.
Lovely shots. There's an unreal quality to them that makes them so artistic.
Wait, wait... That top picture - weren't those towers brought down during Ghost Busters right after Sigourney floated above her bed?
Oh, man. You found a time warp!

.
You certainly found the blues here. Nice photos.
Fantastic! Love Central Park and the blue skies are SO blue! The towers are perfect, do have a fairytale look!
Beautiful pictures!
And special ones at that showing "both worlds."
love the blues and the views. I enjoyed going to central park and we rode in a carriage in our 2 day trip there 10 years ago.
Great shots! I really love the second one. It sounds like you all enjoyed your New York State of Mind!
I was expecting something sad instead we have literally blue pictures. I love both but really like the one across the pond with the reflections.
I loved today's outing!
Thanks, Sandy.

Oh how beautiful. I almost posted the same pics I took, a twilight skywatching, until I changed my mind and posted the one I had because I needed to know what that building is. Would you help identify that?

Out of this world beautiful.
I have only driven through the NYC, never stopped. Your words and photos make it look very appealing.
Fascinating shot that first one. The two buildings look like they are growing up from the trees! Lovely framing, and beautiful shots both of them!
Terrific compositions, and I love the blues, looks frozen in time, a perfect moment.
Rhapsody in blue. They are love letters to most fascinating of cities.
Beautiful shots, Sandy. Interesting that we have both posted blue hues today.

Sandy: Very cool shot of the dual towers at Central Park.
Hi Sandi. I m Here after a long sojourn. Lovely pictures, cleverly framed. The mystery deepens with it's blue hues. Love the second one for it's pretty reflection in the water. Central Park in all it's glory, and a phographer par excellence...!!
Congrats for nomination to POTD.
Great shots Sandy, the first one reminds me of family portraits of days gone by, holding stock still and watching the birdie while being immortalised on a glass plate.
Lovely blue, I bet you all had great fun in the park.
that second shot's poetic, thanks for sharing.
Beautiful scenes and lovely coloring...I love the refection of the skyline in the second shot - perfect captures. The info about the turtles at JFK was interesting too...hadn't heard about it! Thanks for visiting my SWF post. Hi from California!
