The birds pick up where the alarm leaves off on the weekends. Sometimes I wish they wouldn't, but then again, they get me up and out to see the soft beauty of early light. It's worth it, ultimately. The days are cool and brisk yet, and I like them. As I walk quickly to stay warm, I realize it's no mystery why people from these parts are always in a hurry. It's a survival skill.
In other news, ths evening the sun slipped into the river and night came to her rescue. They slept well.

that is a friendly sound-birds chirping...
ReplyDeleteI can just see you briskly walking along with your collar pulled up over your ears. Brrrrrr.
ReplyDeleteGood morning! It looks like a crisp morning :)
ReplyDeleteI love the last line -- the sun slipping into the river!
ReplyDeleteYou are such a skilled photographer.
ReplyDeleteThese are both such beautiful shots and I love the way you weave a mood with your words. Very eloquent.
ReplyDeleteI have gotten pretty good at going back to sleep in spite of the birds loud songs but when the woodpeckers start banging on the metal vent in the roof, that's all she wrote.
beautiful prose! i can picture this jotted down quickly in a small journal as you pause to catch the sights and sounds.
ReplyDeleteYour photo has beautiful colors and reflections but it was this that touched my heart:
ReplyDelete"ths evening the sun slipped into the river and night came to her rescue. They slept well."
Makes me want to work more on my poetry blog. I probably would write several times a week IF I could get the photos that accompany my poems to upload. sigh
I am not sure what i like better: your poems/posts or your pictures, so after i debated this awhile i decided that I love them both equally and I am so happy that you share them with us.
ReplyDeleteGood thing the river and the sun are such good friends. Makes the sleeping together easier.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the news and views...
"always in a hurry" i certainly was in England. the low temp both scared (once i stood shivering outside a hotel entrance trying to remember the password) and taught me some culture of cold countries.
ReplyDeleteit's always a treat to read your posts.
What a lovely water photo.
ReplyDeleteLovely water refractions!
ReplyDeletewow that is such a very lovely morning. great shots with the water
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures and the post the go with them. Your first picture tells me it's a wonderful morning.
ReplyDeleteIt was your morning walk?
ReplyDelete(The whole world seems to be in a mad rush at times.)
The first shot is a 'WHOA'!
Both very fine photographs: I like so much the second one!
ReplyDeleteThat must have been lovely to hear - I would love to hear birds chirping when I wake up!Have a blessed week!
ReplyDeleteskilled photographer and a born poet by heart!
ReplyDeletelovely deep thoughts.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful Sandy, but the dialogue is precious, and poetic.
ReplyDeleteGreat pics, and the words are excellent. I love the bird call in the morning.
ReplyDeleteThose are beautiful photos. I used to wake up to the beautiful chirping of birds. Since it's my son's summer vacation, I tend to sleep late and wake up late in the morning. So it's been a while since I've heard the birds singing in the morning.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a promising morning! Lovely shot:)
ReplyDeletea great morning shot, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteBoth photos are great. :)

You're getting drowsy. Your eyelids are getting heavier and heavier. It's so peaceful now. Go to sleep. Go to sleep. Pappy
ReplyDeletethe morning light is definitely the light that i love next to sunset's colorful skies.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Photos, and i enjoyed your narrative as well, Sandy :)

What a way to document nightfall, "the sun slipped into the river". Wow. Even without the stunning photo, that's a picture.
ReplyDeleteThe buildings (Tues.) are stately, but the water continues to draw me. Maybe because our lake is still frozen...and it is still snowing and blowing.
ReplyDeletethis reflection shot is amazing.
ReplyDeletebeautiful water reflection pic:)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely GOOD MORNING! These are both beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
