Skywatch Friday: Got You, Fly Boy

IMG 5478

This is a sculpture of a venus fly trap in Wilmington, North Carolina. The plant is a native of that state and of South Carolina. This sculpture by Paul B. Hill, a conceptual metalsmith and sculptor from Wilmington, stands at the bottom of Market Street and seems hungry only for the blue sky in sunshine.

  6. At first glance I thought it was a sculpture of a fish, with only the tops of the fins showing. I once had a Venus Fly Trap but was not successful in keeping it alive. I wonder if Paul Hill considered putting a tiny fly on his art? Just curious. Happy almost weekend !

  7. Well this certainly is a good plant to have around my house. We get fruit flies and they are a killer to kill off.
The sculpture looks very refined and beautiful.
    Well done!
