My bedroom is orange--the ceiling and all. Stepping into my room is like stepping into a sunset. I love it because it always feels warm and subdued in there, even if the dimming effect the color has on the electric light has caused me to mismatch my socks on many a morning. Leafing through photos of Topsail this week, I found myself leaning again toward the strong oranges in the sky. I crave that subdued warmth and beauty. (There will be another day for me and the soft blues and golds.) Orange throws its arms around you and holds you close and smiles in your face the way no other color does.
Here's to you and your beautiful life.

Here's to you as well.
ReplyDeleteI was craving some warmth and looked through some of my photos from Cuba....
such a nice way to see a day start.
ReplyDeleteSigh!
ReplyDeleteAn orange room must be so comforting in winter.
Such glorious skies and colors!!
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of an orange room!! Particularly these days! The fog is so thick this morning I can't even see across the street! Hope you have a wonderful weekend, Sandy!

Yep, I am starved for color too. Even the browns and grays of winter would be welcome now. Soon the snow will melt and all will be colorful and lively again.
ReplyDeleteOh, I do adore the warmth of orange!
ReplyDeleteThat sunset is gorgeous.
Here's to you as well.
ReplyDeleteLight and color have such a big effect on everybody. Some are just more aware of that effect than others.
My wife really likes color in the house and has really done well. Her only regrets are when she is not as bold as she wanted to be.
The winter is so beige here. The winter sky at sunrise and sunset is doubly striking because of our craving for color.
I love your photo.
Lovely sky Sandy!
ReplyDeleteHappy skywatch weekend.
cheers and regards.
It sure does look like a warm and friendly sky.
ReplyDeleteYou always amaze me with your photography! So wonderful! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteSo vibrant, and beautiful! Here's to you too!
ReplyDeleteINcredible! =)
ReplyDeleteHappy SWF!
Beautiful scene and heres and cheers to you also.
ReplyDeleteI was tempted to forward your post to NASA (the folks who are Not Actually Smart Anymore), because they should be on the lookout for people who want to volunteer for missions to Mars.
ReplyDeleteMars has plenty of orange sunsets and sunrises. One of each every day.
However, I did not send your name because I am not sure what your doggie-faced daughter would say. Having raised four kids of my own, I know that they ALWAYS have something to say about such plans.
Meanwhile, Lacy and I remain in Florida, surrounded by orange, too. I should say, oranges.

I love the idea of a warm orange color in a room-so cheerful
ReplyDeleteBeautiful memories and a neat connection to the colorful walls in your bedroom.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful. Great capture.
ReplyDeleteGreat sunset. Like your comments on the color orange. I guess you know that restaurants use orange on walls because it stimulates the appetite. The opposite is true for blue. Have a good weekend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful warm,orange sunset--breathtaking!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, very lovely colors.
ReplyDeleteMy wife painted a hallway orange once, it had been dark but was no more after that. I grew to like it. I also like the photo!
ReplyDeleteWow! So well written.
ReplyDeleteyou have the heart of a poet, whether you are taking photos, writing poetry or simply sharing about the feeling of your room. how lovely that is!
ReplyDeleteI know this feeling. and it's like a miracle, or a painter's play each day when the sun is not covered by clouds
ReplyDeleteMaybe you are an *Autumn* person. Its good that you feel so enlivened by this colour. Orange is vibrant! Just like the sunset/sunrise. Lovely photo.

My office is painted a warm and welcoming orange ~ and I also love it. It is hard to be grumpy when you sit in an orange room ! I once took a personality test based on colors and I am Orange ~ warm, outgoing, social...I love being Orange ! Happy Weekend !
ReplyDeleteI agree with you: orange is a great colour and in my country it's the national colour for sport teams, but also the name of our royalty. The House of Orange.
ReplyDeleteI love the poetry of your words!
ReplyDeleteOrange is the color of energy. I love orange too (except to wear!)and your bedroom color sounds so warm and inviting. Great photo Sandy, bliss in a pic!
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday, G
These are wonderful thoughts about the color orange. Perhaps that explains why so many of us are drawn to it. I'm certainly drawn to the beautiful oranges of your photo.
ReplyDeleteStunning sky Sandy.
ReplyDeleteI thought your 3 cups of tea review was interesting. I loved that book but it's possible it was because I liked the subject matter so much. My daughter and other family members also liked it a lot but I've had friends who didn't like it so much although they liked the work he did. Interesting to read your point of view.
This is so peaceful, so serene and flowing. I like the "arms" and the caring of a color!
ReplyDeleteFascinating!! You must have a gorgeous view from your bedroom.. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend, best wishes! :)
Beautiful sky, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful orange sky.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
