Today's Flowers: In a State of Rest

IMG 1110

I was out for a walk the other day when I found these flowers holding on for dear life and looking soft and lovely in the afternoon light. When I got to the top of the hill, I took a look up to drink in the sky, and I got a wonderful dose of magnolia in the making. Sometimes it's all in the looking up.

  8. The Magnolia buds are always nice wrapped up in their little hairy cacoons. Your bud gives me some hope.

  13. Love to see those buds! Hope spring gets a move on it soon!! But like you I looked up yesterday at our lilac tree and lo and behold there were dozens of tight little leaf buds in such a tender shade of green! Made my heart soar! Happy Valentine's Day! May it be a beautiful day for you!

  14. I like the first picture best. They almost look like sparrows sitting there, particularly the one on the far right.

  25. O, Lo!

    Lo! Look up!
    How loverly be the budsy
    Blooms! How huggable be
    The tender hues!
    Upping myself to hilltop yon
    Upon my tiptoes,
    There I delicately pick
    My dose of magnolia,
    And sniffling –
    I have a cold.
