I was out for a walk the other day when I found these flowers holding on for dear life and looking soft and lovely in the afternoon light. When I got to the top of the hill, I took a look up to drink in the sky, and I got a wonderful dose of magnolia in the making. Sometimes it's all in the looking up.

One of the most delightful things about a garden is the anticipation it provides.

The Magnolia buds are always nice wrapped up in their little hairy cacoons. Your bud gives me some hope.
ReplyDeleteSandy: It certainly is a time to regroup and wait for the blooms to start again.
ReplyDeleteLovely shots - I love the second one with the bright blue sky - I can´t remember when I last time saw a blue sky!
ReplyDeleteI see the bud popping out, surely hope Spring would come soon!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots. You have an eye for seeing the possible.
ReplyDeleteLove to see those buds! Hope spring gets a move on it soon!! But like you I looked up yesterday at our lilac tree and lo and behold there were dozens of tight little leaf buds in such a tender shade of green! Made my heart soar! Happy Valentine's Day! May it be a beautiful day for you!

ReplyDeleteI like the first picture best. They almost look like sparrows sitting there, particularly the one on the far right.
ReplyDeleteWonderful sights of winter. Your words and shots are so poetic. I hope you and yours have a Happy Valentine's day.
ReplyDeleteThe promise of spring! It can't get here soon enough.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. There is certainly beauty in things long gone, if not for just the memory of their time here.
ReplyDeleteFlowers coming to bloom are like gifts unopened.
Happy Valentine's Day!!
Looking up, or just in a direction you normally wouldn't.

ReplyDeleteHappy Valentine's Day
I'd miss at least a third of what my camera lens eventually finds if I didn't look up. Beautiful photos, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteO, Lo!
ReplyDeleteLo! Look up!
How loverly be the budsy
Blooms! How huggable be
The tender hues!
Upping myself to hilltop yon
Upon my tiptoes,
There I delicately pick
My dose of magnolia,
And sniffling –
I have a cold.
Great shots. I love the buds.
