Huntington Park, a gift to Connecticut from Archer M. and Anna Hyatt Huntington, is a nature preserve in Redding that I have enjoyed walking since I was a kid. Anna Huntington's sculpture of howling wolves and one of a mama bear and two cubs flank the main trail. To the left of that path are wonderful meadows, one of which is closed to human travel right now because the bobolinks are nesting.

Last night I bet you could hear the wolves howling at the full moon. The statues look so real.
you certainly have lots of natural beauty to enjoy in your area...
Nice, Sandy! I have to look into that preserve. We may go up and visit! My World is up! :)
Beautiful! I'd love to visit someday. It's so nice to hear that the bobolinks are getting their space while nesting, too.
great posting,we have a Huntington Park here in Cleveland as well It is located across the street from the Justice Center. The center houses the county court houses, the Sherriff's department and county Jail #1. Located in the small park that it is is the police Memorial.I will be doing a post about that as well.
I love howling wolves. They are very primal.
Wonderful sculptures! Perhaps the Mama Bear and cubs will show in another post! Now I have to google bobolinks! Ha!
That's a gift that keeps on giving. May their tribes increase.
Wonderful post and photos, Sandy. I checked out your link and it sounds like a great place.
Thanks for visiting.
Do you plan to get pictures of the baby bobolinks? I bet they are cute little birds.
Sandy, it is beautiful to have nature parks donated by people who hat the sight to preserve a rare area. I always enjoy the sculptures, what a great treat to see them in the park.
mine is on thisandthat.
They were impressive wolves. Gave me the shivers just looking at them.
Glad they will never ever do any one any harm!
Beautiful sculptures and natural landscape.

excellent shots to remember that excellent day My Dear Friend
I don't know what a bobolink is but I'd love to walk on that trail.
I don't know what a bobolink is but I'd love to walk on that trail.
That's one "barbaric yawp."
Such a place to walk and listen to it all.
The howling wolves are beautiful...I've never had a fear of wolves , my wonderful grandmother taught me that we were more of a danger to them then they of us...and I'm glad that they are taking steps to protect the bobolinks...lovely park, Sandy...lucky girl you to get to walk it's length and breadth.
Sandi
What a beautiful place, Sandy! Love the wolves! Marvelous shots, interesting info, makes a perfect post for the day!
Nice shots of the wolves statue! How lucky you are to have a beautiful nature preserve so close to home!
You always seem to find such interesting sculptures...
For some reason I'm thinking of the Bremen Town Musicians sculpture in Bremen, Germany (although there might not even BE a wolf in that piece). My mind. Go figure.
Lovely photos - transporting.

That's a beautiful meadow. It's great that the nature preserve closes trails as necessary to protect the wildlife.
Love the wolf sculpture. We've seen wolves through spotter scopes in Yellowstone. Their behavior is interesting to observe.
The sculpture of the howling wolves is really dramatic. Huntington Park looks like a wonderful place to visit.
Wow so interesting. I would be so afraid to walk the trail in the night.
So if the bobolinks get lost do you get a 404: Not Found error? Sorry... what I meant to ask was, "What on earth is a bobolink?" I know I could look it up. but then what would you have to do with your time?
those sculptures looked really haunting!
I like the way you unveiled the wolves bit by bit in your photos.
Have you seen the bobolinks? or heard them? They are really neat birds.
Great sculptures. That looks like a very nice park to take a hike in. I like how the bobolinks are being protected during the nesting season.
sandy: Looks like they are having a howling good time.
That was a great howling statue. I could hear it howl. There is a bird called bobolink? Have to find out what that is all about.
Love the statue! I noticed there were more Bobolinks in your part of the world. They are such cool birds, I see them rarely here.
Those are great sculptures. I love the vast expanse of the meadow,
Beautiful scenery indeed, and the sculpture of the howling wolves is very interesting.
natural parks are great! we have too less of them in Romania, but many in Austria!
Very nice preserve. The sculpture is a great tribute.
nice to know that the people are taking seriously the preservation of those creatures.
Impressive sculpture. Looks a magical place.
Looks like a very nice and very serene place to visit.
Stop by, I have an award for you.
Great Sandy, that's what our dogs were doing at the full moon last nignt. To tell you a secret, I joined in the fun too.
Great photos of a wonderful sculpture and trail.
Nice series. Wouldn't you love to get shots of real wolves doing that!!!
Bobolink - sounds like a character from star wars :)
havent seen wolves in my life
Wonderful sculptures. In the Grand Tetons I heard wolves howling in the early morning light once. It is a sound I will never forget. Great photos!
so love the sculpture...lovely post and enjoyed thoroughly.
have a wonderful evening.
Love the wolves - and it also warms my heart that bobolinks have the 'right of way'!
I love the wolf carvings!
How wonderful are the carvings and that must be a neat place to hike at. . . I am glad they care about preserving that species and closed it to public temporarily.
Beautiful area and some great shots of it..
Are the wolves also carved from tree stumps or from something else ?
Marvellous staues, thankyou for sharing them...
Great shots Sandy I love the howling wolves. I am however going to look up what the heck a Bobolink is. If it is nesting I am thinking bird but would still like a beak to go with the name. I really liked you My world post!
Wonderful perspectives on these amazing photos! What a small world ... Huntington Park (in Southern California) is a town close to where I grew up in the suburbs of Los Angeles ... not nearly as lovely to photograph however. LOL
Hugs and blessings,
lOVE the wolves with their heads up XXX Don
