I love the colours and texture in this one. For years I've meant to go over to see the memorials and cemeteries in France and Belgium while the poppies are blooming; you've got me thinking again about just *doing* it, and booking that trip. Peace, Sandy--thanks for a beautiful post!
I saw some poppies the other day and meant to take some photos but something distracted me and I crossed the street and forgot about them. I will always remember the poppies we sold for the VA as a child.
Now I have to go look up the field of poppies poem. . . I think it was so appropriate that our President was in France for V day.
The poppy is a definite reminder of D Day and the sacrifice of all servicemen at all times. It is also a beautiful flower and you have taken a magnificent photo!
A beautiful flower. The poppy is the sign of our Remembrance Day, and in November millions of Brits pay to wear a mock one on their lapel to support the veterans and remember.
By virtue of the Creation and, still more, of the Incarnation, nothing here below is profane for those who know how to see. (Pierre Teilhard de Chardin)

The crinkly look of this flower reminds me of a skirt.

Gorgeous!! Reminds me of the flowers we used to make with tissue paper.

Sandy: A beautiful capture and a fitting show for remembrance of
D-Day.
It wouldn't be Memorial Day without some splendid poppies. Thanks for this wonderful remembrance post, Sandy.

That particular flower appears to be unfurling, like memories. How appropriate to the occasion, Sandy.
I love how this looks faded... it's fitting. You know the old saying: "Old soldiers never die, they just fade away."

Perfect choice ...
Although it's the 10th, I'm still pausing to remember ... just because.
