April showers...May flowers
All that from childhood
Floods over me this
April Fool's evening
All that about waiting and waiting
The goodness will come
The robins know
So do countless treetop others
And the squirrels
They're all talking about it
And I am listening...
All that from childhood
About waiting.
It's a good thing.
Beauty comes.
Right now it presses
With everthing it has and is
Through the mud
That it might be
Soon.
Just wait.

ReplyDeleteLittle bit of cabin fever there Sandy? I can't figure out which images I like better, the ones you create with your camera or your keyboard. Both are superb.
ReplyDeleteGreat way to end the day. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteWell . . . we got spring early BUT now it is all gray skies with all this rain that comes with Spring. I wish it would rain when I am asleep and let me get out more. . . one day! Hope yours arrives soon.
ReplyDeleteDoes not look like good weather, but I love those dramatic clouds!
ReplyDeleteIf its goodness that comes after all that waiting, the whole life is worth waiting, even if life means to pass by in the wait...
ReplyDeleteBut, isn't life lived fully even as we wait for that final peaceful moment of goodness...called death... I know I am reading too much, here
but poems offer that freedom, I guess..
loved this, Sandy
but, hope it wouldn't turn out to be foolish wait!!
...just the kind of kidding i like to do at times...hope you take it in that spirit :))
wishes,
devika
excellent poem as your shot.
ReplyDeleteLovely expectant words.
ReplyDeleteI can sense the yearning for Spring in everybody! Lovely, inviting photo, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteThe lights just turned on on my front porch -- forsythia!
ReplyDeleteI remember as a kid hearing about other kids that put sugar in the salt shaker and salt in the sugar for April's Fool. I never had the guts to do something like that, pluse if I did I'd get "killed." (our term for 'you're in BIG trouble.'
everything comes to those that wait in faith and hope
ReplyDeleteIt seems that it's not only when we're very young that it feels like we're always waiting! This has been a long winter in a lot of places...

ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! Thanks for the beautiful view and the encouraging words. Yay, soon!
ReplyDeleteSuch a moody picture. Such a lovely poem. I too am listening to the wildlife gear up for the surge of spring into summer.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I do miss a good change of seasons, the not having to wait for spring part is a good bonus to living in San Diego.
ReplyDeleteSo much wisdom to savor here and a lovely photo. Just wait...sometimes we need to, don't we?

Beautiful. Spring is on the other side of those clouds!
ReplyDeleteI loved the story of "The Ugly Ducklings" when I was a child, but as I grew up, I discovered that nothing is truly ugly, and if so, there are some beautiful ugly things in this world. I enjoyed this.
ReplyDeleteI so thank you for your kindness and all your encouraging comments. You make me smile, and yes, wonder at the small blessings in life, which to me, means the most.
The photograph's beautiful--I love the light on the water.
ReplyDeleteAlso love the April Fool's mention in the poem. Lovely all over.
Were you a crocus or a daffodil in another life? It sounds like the poem one of them would write! Very nice job!

ReplyDeletemagnificent and the words are soulful too.
ReplyDeleteWaiting for spring is like so much in life, it will come on its own terms in its own time; hints of it will come first, then vanish, then return. Beautiful photo, Sandy.
ReplyDeletelovely poem.
ReplyDeleteI can feel it to, so I wait too. In the meantime I take in every precious bit of the end of winter for soon it will be gone. But spring.... the promise of spring makes my eyes sparkle and my heart lean forward
