This is one of the metal tags on a flag at a veteran's grave marker in Roxbury, Connecticut. There were different tags for the Revolutionary, Civil and First World wars. (There is a different one in the post below.)

Neat pic-love the ones in the previous post. I love to read the inscriptions and wonder about the people-and their lives.
ReplyDeletethe details are so vivid.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that they are remembered for what they did and for what they may have had to sacrafice so those of us here can live our lives as we do.
ReplyDeleteGreat Pic and Post Sandy my Dear!
I really like the way you shot this. It is so vivid.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great picture Sandy. It reminds me of the Military Museum we went through at Vicksburg.
ReplyDeleteGod bless our soldiers!! Great post. Happy WW:)
ReplyDeleteI love this close-up with the great details of the tags.

Aloha-
I love this engraving!
ReplyDeleteGreat details in the shot!
ReplyDeleteIt glows in the sun like it was meant to be.
ReplyDeleteWe Chinese are visiting cemeteries these two weeks to offer prayers to our ancestors.
ReplyDeleteThis post is a great tribute, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteVery nice reminder, Sandy. I also like the photos in the post below.
ReplyDeleteIt is very detailed, including the wear on the tag. This must have been a very interesting place to visit, both visually and spiritually.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering from which war this is - I am guessing WWI, but I can't be sure.
The marker shows war and tear just like their service for our country did. I am glad we honor our vets who have died in this way.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Sandy. I wonder which war this relates to. Happy WW
ReplyDeleteThey must be remembered.
ReplyDeleteI love little medallions or symbols on graves. Here in OK in the older cemetaries there are some "CSA" designations from the Civil War (or as I heard one guy in Mississippi put it, "the war of northern agression."
ReplyDeleteIn Utah and Southern Idaho you see little pushcarts on the graves of Mormon pioneers.
Thanks
I like this, it's so tactile.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful close-up shot of this weathered marker. And I love your previous post of cemetary pictures. My sister and I love strolling through cemetaries, looking at all the names on the headstones - especially older ones.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful lightin on this, Sandy. Really adds to the remembrance in it!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful commemoration and photo.
ReplyDeleteIt looks like a US Marshall? The strange thing is, if I am right, I don't know how I know that or why.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day.
I hope you're hanging on to some of these for Memorial Day. They'd be great!
ReplyDeleteI always love to see these markers and know a soldier has been remembered.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely way to remember veterans! I remember visiting my father's grave soon after he died and seeing that someone had put a flag there(he was a veteran): I was touched and so, so proud.
ReplyDeleteGreat choice, Sandy!
Beautiful old star, happy WW!
ReplyDeleteMay he rest in Peace. Grave stones make interesting photography subjects..so much history if we really look.
ReplyDeleteNice close up. I too am on of those people that like strolling in cemeteries, especially old ones. I enjoyed this post and the previous one. Happy WW!

ReplyDeleteA fine close-up!
