I came across this quote of Helen Hayes in mybirth year and liked it very much. It made me think of the things I've come to realize the thousand and one times I have walked this beach in every kind of light.
Every human being on this earth is born with a tragedy, and it isn't original sin. He's born with the tragedy that he has to grow up. That he has to leave the nest, the security, and go out to do battle. He has to lose everything that is lovely and fight for a new loveliness of his own making, and it's a tragedy. A lot of people don't have the courage to do it. (Helen Hayes, in Roy Newquist, Showcase, 1966)

Such a beautiful moonlit beach--how lucky you are to be able to enjoy the beauty and solitude of such a lovely place so often. What a great quote. How true that we must leave the safety of our first home and "make our own happiness" in a hostile world. It does take strength and courage to do that and succeed. Ah, life! Have a nice weekend. ReplyDeleteI'm not sure I agree with Helen Hays, I think growing up is an adventure although I must admit it took me a while to realize and appreciate that.
A gorgeous shot - and an ideal place to contemplate our Creator and His creation; to focus on the beauty that surrounds us and seek opportunities to lift up one another. Hope you enjoy a glorious weekend.

ReplyDeleteWhile I walked along the beach, I thought of you and your love for your favorite beach. I can understand why you photograph it often. Though you can't really posses it, the camera lets you freeze it, then enjoy it whenever you want. I took a million pictures in California.
