a little too early Sunday morning, so we went looking for a place to walk. We found ourselves at the Old Bethlem Burying Ground, circa 1750,
where a few Revolutionary War soldiers are buried.
At the back of the burying ground was an entrance to a trail. One grave marker was doubling as a cairn near this entrance.
Della wasn't in the mood to be photographed, but I couldn't help myself.
On and on the trail went. It was so beautiful and so ordinary. I could have made a day of it, but it was a fine half of an hour.
It'll be there for another time. Just ask these guys.
Have a great week!

Love this. I just can't resist following an unexpected trail. Of course if there others with me I feel like Morley's ghost trying to convince others to follow me cuz I want to know where it goes.
ReplyDeletewhat a cool walk eh? we have an old cemetery here....many relics of our town...and old very creative markers...and a whole section of civil war burial plots as it was right off the railroad...there is an old depot there...

ReplyDeleteYes, they aren't going anywhere. Cemeteries are good places for many things ...learning history, seeing birds, and (I guess ironically) thinking about life itself.
ReplyDeleteLove cemeteries photos! They are almost always beautiful.
ReplyDeleteA serene walk, Sandy. Fun photo of Della trying to avoid the camera! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
