Over the weekend, we wandered around warm and sunny Wilmington and took in all the things we like--and wondered what happened to the candy store we liked so much. The economy seems to have caught up with it. There were a few empty shopfronts that left us feeling sad for this lovely town. Seems the economy is eating holes into life everywhere. Still, though, the day was beautiful and full of fun.

sounds like a lovely pre-spring day enjoyed just looking around and enjoying
ReplyDeleteSounds like a fun day : ) Sadly the economic woes have left many stores empty in my area too.
ReplyDeleteAh, yes! Same here in Seattle, so many closed stores, so many homeless people on the streets and the crime rate soaring! But it looks as though you guys had a great day! And I hope you have a wonderful week as well, Sandy!

Looks charming and sunny!
ReplyDeleteIt is fun seeing a warm sunny place instead of a snowy icy cold place you are normally showing. The new norm is much more fun.
ReplyDeleteVery pleasant images, fine weather!

Seems like the World is in the same boat - all over shops ect are closing down.
ReplyDelete2nd shot is very interesting.
A nice day -- I love wandering like that; sure beats shopping at a horrid big-box store. Sadly, downtowns/old towns do seem to be the first to feel the pinch.
ReplyDeleteI am so sad for this I love shops to stay open.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad about the candy store. You got some good shots. I always enjoying wandering around Wilmington.
ReplyDeleteA nice series of photos. It is always sad to see stores go.
ReplyDeleteSad that the empty shops are a reminder that all is not well. Still, you had a good time. So glad for you. I like the pictures.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a nice neighborhood to wander around. Sad to hear about the candy store though.
ReplyDeleteLove the sculpture. So sorry to hear about the stores closing.
ReplyDeleteI love random shots from wandering around.
ReplyDeleteThe economy still seems to be hurting the small shops over here also. It is sad.
Still, I enjoyed your post.
I just feel so excited for you!

ReplyDeleteI like that parking sign for bicycles.
ReplyDeleteThe economy like the venus flytrap is trapping many... very unfortunate.
ReplyDeleteLovely tour...I hear you about the holes
ReplyDeleteIt makes me physically ill to see a "store closing" sign. So sad..and happening way too often

Ain't that the truth of it. Glad you had a beautiful day in spite of the economic obviousness.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures! But I'm sorry to hear about the candy shop.. And so glad to hear, in despite of this, you had a good day! :)
