With that in mind, here are a few photos from the
New Hanover County Arboretum in Wilmington, North Carolina. Adella and I stopped by there last week to see what was in bloom and how the Japanese garden was coming along. We managed to take in most of it in our own sweet time before the skies opened up and gave everything a good rinsing off.
(The other hosts of
My World Tuesday have decided to end the meme because its creator, Klaus Peter, has passed away, and they felt closing the meme was a show of respect for Klaus. Nevertheless, I feel inclined to continue to continue looking for the extraordinary in the world around me and sharing it here. Klaus was an inspiration, and I don't feel inclined to hide that light under a basket.)

Sandy, Lovely photos of a lovely place. Klaus Peter did shoot amazing photos--please continue posting photos from "Your World"--I always enjoy your beautiful pics and meaningful words. Mickie ;)
ReplyDeleteI feel the same way, Sandy! And I'm doing the same thing! And what a beautiful world you have! Gorgeous captures for the day!

I always enjoy your scooting about your area and showing us the beauty of the place. I love old japanese lanterns. I even had a dream about one that was in my neighbors garden. After she passed away someone got rid of it. I miss it. I miss her. She was a light in our community.
ReplyDeleteI am glad you will continue the meme in honor of Klaus. I am sure he appreciates it too.
Such lovely lovely shots!
ReplyDeleteI was sad to hear that My World would be shutting down. It was such an inspiring way of helping us look for the extraordinary in the world! I will miss it sorely - just as we will all miss Klaus' talent.
I'm so glad you've chosen to continue sharing your findings as you search for beauty. I live in the desert and though I love its special beauty I appreciate looking at the verdent and colorful photos you take, as well as those of the ocean. Thanks for this Sandy.
ReplyDeleteI love arboretums. Used to like to go to them to draw. There isn't one anywhere near, now.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photographs from the arboretum. I didn't realize the meme was ending. I'm with you in terms of continuing to show my world. This is one of my favorite memes, and it was such a great idea that Klaus came up with.
ReplyDeletegreat place, we've been touring iceland will post some photos soon-i'm behind but exhausted at the end of each day....
ReplyDeleteWhat gorgeous shots you took Sandy! I wish I was there with you. I would be one picture taking fool! LOL
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your world with us.

I especially love the third photo with the serpent dragon.
ReplyDeleteVery effective.
The meme is a good one, hats off to Klaus for such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteWe can keep keep his idea alive by continuing the meme. (Just thinking loud.)
Great pics from your world today.
I always enjoy seeing your world through your lens so I am very pleased that you plan to keep on sharing whatever you find special. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteAnd this arboretum looks special indeed. I LOVE the dragon in the pond and also the moss on what looks like cedar posts.
I agree that continuing to share our corner of the world is the best way to honor Klaus. We haven't been to the new arbortorium, but I would like to go the next time we're down there.
ReplyDeleteJust how I feel too Sandy.
ReplyDeleteSorry I could not post today, I am still too overwhelmed with sadness but even if the meme were to close, which I hope it will not, I would also continue posting under that title as a mark of respect for Klaus.
Thank you for you comment and this lovely post of yours.
Thanks for letting me know what is going on. I will keep on posting and hope you will let me know the new URL of My World when you get it set up. It most definitely should keep on going.
ReplyDeleteI'll keep on posting!
What a beautiful landscape !
ReplyDeleteI agree with you there is no reason to end "My World" I am sure Klaus Peter (whom I didn't know) would agree that his idea continues. I have asked Sylvia to continue maybe under another name such as "Our World" I have also posted.
What a lovely place, Sandy! :)
ReplyDeleteSporadic Thoughts
I second Gattina's suggestion: "Our World" would be such a fitting tribute to Klaus.
ReplyDeleteI look forward to the continuation of this meme. Thanks Sandy.
I just love arboretum's and their close cousin botanical gardens. The Hanover County Arboretum looks like a dandy.
ReplyDeleteI'm in Wichita, KS today, your post is inspiring me to go visit Botanica Wichita's very nice botanical garden.
Me again, I'm going to miss the My World meme. It won't stop me from looking for My World type subjects.
ReplyDeleteOh what a beautiful place! Makes my want to visit!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like a really neat place!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful showing Sandy.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos-sorry for the loss of the founder-amazing how many blogs he touched with the meme.
ReplyDeleteOh, Sandy, glad to hear that. We all have so many wonderful places to share!
ReplyDeleteOh, I also meant to say that I love the shot with the dragon and the cattails!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
