I woke up to a chilly morning on Sunday, and when I went for an early walk, I discovered that we had had our first frost. It's nice to see the way the frost melts in response to the rising sun but stays put in the shadows. The corn and the hay have been harvested, and the fields seemed so very quiet. I like the first frost. It gives me permission to dive into that first bag of candy corn, think about Halloween costumes, warm pajamas, Thanksgiving.... It's a wonderful, cozy time of year, and the light is beautiful. It's good to see, too, that some flowers thrive despite the cold.

Such a gorgeous photo! Tes me too lke the first, it's beautiful. But I feel sorrow for the birds and the cats and other animals going out, lost from their homes.. each time the frost comes I worry about them..

We are a few weeks behind you. We went camping this past weekend and it was too warm for sleeping bags and we wore short sleeves when we got up in the morning.
ReplyDeleteI love the first frost. Not just for the scenic effect, but that's the end of ticks and chiggers in my geocaching hobby plus the vegetation dies back and makes it easier bushwhacking and the poison ivy turns red so I can see it better.

OOooooo real live frost. Fall is inching nearer. I am sitting here in shorts and a tee shirt. That frost looks cold to me. I can't wait to see some around here. Remind me that I said this about mid January.
