I have been away for the past five days, and my email account has been idle. Twice I checked messages while away. Most recently, I checked yesterday, April 13, at supper time. All was well. However, today, Wednesday, I arrived home at 10 p.m. to discover my email account had been hacked and all the email addresses in my address book have received an ad for Viagra.
I am very sorry that persons in my email address book have received this junk.
Over the past hour, I have changed my password, and I have been deleting the addresses of all but a very few persons. Many professional contacts were in that address book, and I am very embarrassed by this intrusion.
Again, I am sorry.

Sandy: Why should you be ashamed? You were not at fault my friend. People who do these types of things think they are so smart and yet in every way they are very foolish.
ReplyDeleteWhat must have happened was pretty obvious to me when I read it and I'm sure to everyone else who received it. Not to worry.. it happens.
ReplyDeleteNothing to be concerned about, Sandy, those of us who know you would never be upset or concerned. Hilary is right, these things happen and please, don't worry!

This is really a nuisance. It's happened to a friend of mine recently. I wonder how people do it? I hope you get it sorted soon. Peace :)
ReplyDeleteHello Sandy, no probs what-so-ever my friend.
ReplyDeleteIt can happen to anyone, dont worry about it.
That sucks for sure! But it definitely wasn't your fault!!

No worries! Its part and parcel of the world we live in. I'm always glad to see your name pop up either way
ReplyDeleteGREAT quote by Fugelsgang--thank you for that.
Happy Thursday.
p.s. today's word veri. 'quillogi' which I think pretty much means: dealing with stupid hackers!
hey we are your friends, spam is the enemy. we understand....don't worry, be happy!
ReplyDeleteNot to worry, sadly, it happens-- and you did not do it - but the one I got was for Obama not the other subject.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am not in your address book OR aol is good at deleting my spam. . . lol Sorry for your problems. I never use their address book for reasons like this. I save all my addresses elsewhere and sure it is more trouble but fine with me for the past 14 years.
ReplyDeleteNo worries, here. The same thing happened to my husband's business email account about six months ago. All of his contractors and half the US government got spammed. It happens.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry it happened to you.
It happened to me earlier this week .. stuff like this happens and no one blames the 'sender' ..
ReplyDeleteDon't worry Sandy, this happens to many of us and it isn't something that we can prevent. Someone got into my e-mail account a while back and did moreorless the same thing, actually using my name and saying I had recommended the product. It just happens. Onwards and upwards ;)
ReplyDeleteThese things happen... I'm sure nobody thought for a second that you were trying to sell them Viagra.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the others -- you did nothing to feel bad about. I have a pretty good junk mail filter and would not even associate an additional spam message with you.
ReplyDeleteThe rotten buggers. Don't feel like we would think it was you sending this junk around. Geez. What will they think of next?
ReplyDeleteHackers and Spammers are so annoying. Sorry this happened to you.

I got an "interesting" email from you and thought it must be som kind of spam. Though, one email to me isn't a calamity. I hope you got it all fixed.
ReplyDeleteNot to worry. SPAM happens to us all. I'm sorry for the inconvenience it caused YOU ... seriously!
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Thanks for being here.
