This is a view from the home of the Congregational minister at Sturbridge Village. While we were there a few weeks ago, my nephew Adam became suddenly very enthusiastic about religion--because the heat was on in the church and in the parsonage! Smart kid. And a quick mover. Some might call such a view dreary. I call it home.

Its winter, not dreary. That same view is likely brightly alive with color from spring through fall .. its a lovely view ..
ReplyDeleteWhat a fascinating photo- each individual glass pane seems to contain its own picture. The amalgam leaves a sense of wintery-waiting.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful view which invites one to reflect and rest. It's been a while since I have been to Sturbridge Village ~ thanks for stirring up some nice memories.
ReplyDeleteNice photo Sandy. Love the nuetral tones.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot Sandy, as always. Thanks for sharing, I can see the what does real winter looks like through your lens..we do have winter season here in UAE but there's no snow. Looking at the photo, it looks like a mosaic.

It's a scene of quiet reflection. Thoughtful, yet peaceful.

ReplyDeleteIt looks very cozy, Sandy. The sky outside looks very similar to here. I like the framing in your photo very much.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo, I love the window frame.
ReplyDeleteThis shot gives me a feeling of peace and tranquility. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe photo is so true about the season. Still neat and nice shot, while staying comfy in the inside. Have a great week end.
ReplyDeleteI like that reflective shot and the illusion of reality
ReplyDeleteI don't get to see icicles like that very often. A nice wintery view.
ReplyDeleteLovely sky shot through the window.
ReplyDeleteGetting warm is an excellent reason for religion. I like the wavy panes of glass.

Yes, that photo tells me to find the church kitchen and make some cocoa or tea and sit by the fire.

Wonderful view from a room! :) I really like the way you did this. Thank you for all the Sky Watching.
ReplyDeleteI think this is a wonderful photo. It is so typical of the way we imagine historic New England.
ReplyDeleteI love how the center pane in the bottom has a slight distortion in it. Reminds me of the "float glass" you find in older homes. And if the parsonage is old, that might be exactly what it is. It almost draws you in like there's a vortex in the middle of the window.
ReplyDeleteNot dreary at all Sandy. I rather like it actually.
Sandy: We in the North can appreciate the gray skies, snow and icy view.
ReplyDeleteTop notch composition in this photograph!

ReplyDeleteyes, such a smart kid. :)
ReplyDeleteI can see you have icicles as well. Sweden is almost overtaken by them. ;(
Adam sounds like a smart kid. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does look a bit dreary, but at this time of year, even home can look that way :-) We have memories of more light and sunshine to sustain us as we wait.
ReplyDeleteI love winter. The cold, icicles, the sometimes dreary skies and especially the snow. This is lovely.
ReplyDeleteI think it's lovely!
ReplyDeleteThat is a good use of the window frame. Very lovely. It looked like a beautiful place.
ReplyDeleteHave a good weekend.

Ah, the warm glow of religion :-)
ReplyDeletephotos like this actually makes me wish we too had four seasons.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully framed view of winter in New England!
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, and the black frame set contrasts beautifully against the gray sky, and the green tree line in the centre a great touch.
ReplyDeleteThis is a very homey photo, comfortable and peaceful. I like how it's framed through the window.
