The branch of this tree always seems to be pointing an accusing finger at the Episcopal church, which is just beyond the antique (meaning ancient) strip mall to the left in this photo. Every time I climb out of the car at the library parking lot, I wonder what secrets this tree keeps. Finally, a took a photo of this character on Tuesday evening.

such a breath taking picture!!
ReplyDeletelovely!
How odd, it certainly does. Great lighting on this shot Sandy.
ReplyDeleteHe reminds me of the apple trees in the wizard of oz or the ents in LotR's.

I love it! And I think you may be right! Terrific shot, Sandy! And I do love your humor -- if you learn any of his/her secrets, do tell!

A wonderful tree with branches as the gnarled fingers of a witch! It can't do any harm to that church! It makes a stunning photo, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteWell I suppose turnabout's fair play. How many accusing fingers have various churches pointed over the centuries, eh?
ReplyDeleteYou know I love this shot though. Right up my alley... naked branches against a darkening sky... even the headlights of the car at the bottom of the frame are wonderfully rendered.
I'd love it if the trees could talk; can you imagine so many stories?
ReplyDeleteYour photo brings to mind one of the very few things I like about winter: the beauty of bare naked trees!
I must have heard that line a thousand times as a child LOL!!! But it didn't refer to a tree.
ReplyDeleteGreat photo Sandy, happy weekend. G
What a great shot and so funny. It does appear to be pointing.

ReplyDeleteSuch a pretty sky and so perfectly framed by the tree!
I love the branches, and the few remaining leaves, silhouetted against the darkening sky!!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot!!
ReplyDeleteA bit creepy, but I like it :)

The light is beautiful, but you're right, that's kind of a remonstrative gesture! Wonder what gives?!
ReplyDeleteYou brought a grin to my face; I do see it! The light sets the stage.
ReplyDeleteVery spooky looking tree, moody sky too. Thanks for sharing:)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great shot. Beautiful picture
ReplyDeleteSee, that is why you take great photos. You look at the world with your imagination.
ReplyDeleteYou picked a great time to photograph it. The evening light makes it look rather like one of Tolkien's ents.
ReplyDeleteI love that picture - witchy accusing finger and what a great silvery light.
ReplyDeleteI love the rolled up colors in the sky and I'm sure that the Episcopal Church has done something that they would rather keep quiet.
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely photo of the tree and the sky beyond the fingers.
ReplyDeleteNice photo, great commentary. I think I like your sense of humor. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteIt might not be polite to point but how would we find our way without directional signals POINTING the way. Maybe that old axiom needs to retire?
ReplyDeleteI like these silhouette sky shots. The framing is lovely.
ReplyDeleteYes, I wonder what it might tell us if it could. Fun post.
ReplyDeleteI like your poetic take on this picture!
ReplyDeleteIt is beautiful and the lights looked like stars. Have a nice weekend.
ReplyDeletei love the lighting and the way the tree seems to scolding the building! a really lovely picture my dear friend
ReplyDeleteIt looks like the sky is clearing behind the tree giving enough light to make it appear spooky to me.
ReplyDeleteThat's just beautiful.. the sky colours make it a perfect shot.
ReplyDeleteSandy: A little creativity goes a long way, funny tree story.
ReplyDeleteThat's one thing I don't mind about losing leaves - I love to see the branches, so much character!

God works in mysterious ways.

ReplyDeleteTHERE IS A LOT OF DARKNESS ABOUT US
ReplyDeletewE NUST TRUST THERE IS GOODNESS IN THE LIGHT OF LOVE
tHE TREE LIKE US QUESTIUNS OUR FAITH
The lower branch of the tree looks just like a hand. I like to imagine all trees have secrets. They've been around a long time, quietly observing the best and worst of us.
ReplyDeletestunning photo, sandy!
