Adella and I went apple-picking yesterday in Bethlehem, Connecticut. There were plenty of apples, but finding good ones was tough because so many had been damaged by hail in June. We found enough for Dell and Grandpa, though. And the day was beautiful.

I like the two perspectives! Good photos!
ReplyDeleteBoth so beautiful! I can't decide if I like the color or the silhouette the best.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful setting!
ReplyDeleteMy husband and I were just talking about apple picking lately - about how it looks like such a relaxing and enjoyable activity in the movies, but when we look at our local orchards and imagine the poor people out there picking hundred's of acres in the HOT sun... it just doesn't look very pleasant.
Your photos make me want to go apple picking... they also make me thirsty! I could really go for some apple juice. ;)
Oh Matt Damon darling, I like em very much especially if they are coming from you.
ReplyDeleteI loooooove that movie.
I enjoy your image very much.
I'm glad you were able to find some good ones. What a shame so many were damaged by hail. Looks like you had a gorgeous day for apple hunting and picking.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous shots, Sandy! Too bad so many apples had been damaged, but as long as you got all you needed! I like both the shots -- may favor the color one just a tad, probably because the other reminds me that our grayer days are coming!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!
Sylvia
nice way of pointing out that what we see depends so much on our "focus"!!
ReplyDeleteBoth nicely frame the idyllic countryside. I can almost taste those apples!
ReplyDeleteDelicious!
ReplyDeleteI love the way you shot the boughed branches filled with apples.

ReplyDeleteI like that silhouette of your apples!
ReplyDeleteThey do look juicy!
ymmm...looking delicious..good to catch up here Sandy.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your story/post below of one of your students and your books...it is somehow reminding me of Bob Smith, a local from your whereabouts (sort of), and his book Hamlet's Dresser. No doubt you would be familiar with it.
His and your stories..both lovely.
Those branches are certainly laden with fruit.
ReplyDeleteThose red apples look soooo good.
ReplyDeleteIt is that time of year...love apples in any form-fresh, baked, dried, stewed-good stuff. Fun photos.

ReplyDeleteWhen we lived in Stratford, we'd pick apples, and then I'd spend a weekend making and canning applesauce. With cinammon. The jars became prized Christmas gifts. I taught the kids to toast a slice of pound cake, put ice cream on it and then some unsweetened applesauce.
Nice shots :) How quaint that you have a Bethlehem :)
ReplyDeleteNice arch of the bough. I like them sweet and crunchy.Or. I like the second one best.
ReplyDeleteI like mine under a sugery crust with a dollop of custard... as for the pictures... both are excellent Sandy.. nowI need to find an apple tree. :O)

Sandy: I like them sweet and crunchy, neat SWF shots.
ReplyDeleteSo delicious.
ReplyDeleteIs there any nicer pleasure than picking fruits from the vine? I think not. I had two beautiful apple trees at my last home, what fun it was to pick fruit for pies, straight from the backyard! If you've lived in a cold climate, you will understand that appeal. LOL
ReplyDeleteI LOVE what you've done with these photos Sandy, love it!
See you Sunday at OSI!
Hugs, G
