We went for a walk along a bike path that follows the railroad line to the harbor after photographing some graffiti in New Haven. All of these flowers colored the way and took us from hardcore urban grime to the freedom of the sea.
Where would we be without little moment of living color like these in the midst of all the metal and concrete?! Many people might say they don't matter, but if they were all gone...something indefinable would be missing...
What a wonderful set of shots you took of the flowers and nature along the railroad line. I love the image of moving from the urban to the free sea with nature's glory to lead you on.
It's beautiful, colorful moments like these that soothe the soul, warm the heart and encourage us to reach for the next day, the next moment with a smile and the lightness of hope. Have a lovely week, Sandy. Sylvia
Don't you just love chickery?? They are like little droplets of the sky along the pathways. Heck, I even like thistle even though it is prickly, if it is along the roadside. I have even tried to grow Verbascum but it doesn't like my garden. My friend said I was too nice to it. Ha...If you saw my garden you wouldn't think that. It would fit right in.
AS Mike said above, this makes it clear that our little time of meddling with things will pass and Nature will ultimately reclaim what's hers. A little different seeing the "wild" against the backdrop of the "urban" rather than the other way around.

ReplyDeleteI like very much these photos, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteThe last one is so poetic, with those delicate little flowers on the faint background.
These are lovely shots of the retiring beauty of wild flowers. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteGreat eye candy for the path. I'm not totally sure but the plant in the last shot looks to me like a weed we have here in Washington (state).
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful wild flowers! We just don't see a lot of them here because of the heat and no rain.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! Thank you for taking us along on your walk. I have enjoyed all these pretty flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love see some of the places wildflowers pop up and are those crab apples? The thistle is striking!

ReplyDeleteA day should be little bit of each - and yours obviously was.
ReplyDeleteLove the contrast on the first one. Soft flower:harsh background.
ReplyDeleteBeauty is always there if we look for it!
ReplyDeletejust absolutely beautiful...
ReplyDeletethey are fantastic pics...
Oh! It seems so blended with nature and quite hard to believe, that it embraces the urban boundaries..:)
ReplyDeleteI liked the colors that trailed your path to the tunnel of freedom!
Nice shots, well captured and loved the mix of old and new, what we have and what we like, the hue and the colours..hmm..!
Nostalgic, I should say!
Beautiful, scenic spectrum of beauty, of nature!
It always amazes me that these beauties can co-exist with the noise, dirt, etc. And keep their 'cheerful' countenances!
ReplyDeleteEach flower is a soul opening out to nature.

Your pictures are great, beauty can be found in many places!!
I really like that contrast in the first shot. Tender, yellow flowers with the backdrop of the rusty support and the train.
ReplyDeleteSomeimes I wonder IF we would appreciate this beauty if we did nto have digital cameras now. . . quite a nice showing!
ReplyDeleteI am a firm believer that one can find a hint or a lot of beauty ANYwhere! Lovely, Sandy!
