We went for a walk along a bike path that follows the railroad line to the harbor after photographing some graffiti in New Haven. All of these flowers colored the way and took us from hardcore urban grime to the freedom of the sea.

Where would we be without little moment of living color like these in the midst of all the metal and concrete?! Many people might say they don't matter, but if they were all gone...something indefinable would be missing...

Don't you just love chickery?? They are like little droplets of the sky along the pathways. Heck, I even like thistle even though it is prickly, if it is along the roadside. I have even tried to grow Verbascum but it doesn't like my garden. My friend said I was too nice to it. Ha...If you saw my garden you wouldn't think that. It would fit right in.

AS Mike said above, this makes it clear that our little time of meddling with things will pass and Nature will ultimately reclaim what's hers. A little different seeing the "wild" against the backdrop of the "urban" rather than the other way around.
