Cherry blossoms. Delicately splendid, sweetly scented cherry blossoms are this week's blessing. After Dell and I awoke in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, last week, we stepped into a world filled with cherry blossoms. Cherry blossoms festooned the street like a spring party and tinted the otherwise dull morning a soft pink.
After we came back to Connecticut, we stepped into our old familiar city and there found streets lined with cherry blossoms. Their ephemeral beauty makes my heart ache somehow. I wish they would stay around longer.
They were pretty. A pretty world, even for a short while, is more than enough blessing for me.

Spring is full of those ephemeral beauties that we long to keep. Their fleeting visit is what makes them so precious. Sort of like family or friends visiting. If you miss them when they depart you have had a great visit and look forward to the next.
ReplyDeleteCherry blossoms are such a blessing. They're so beautiful and so brief they make us just *stop* everything to go look and enjoy them while they're still around: a very valuable lesson that I think most of us promptly forget.
ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite memories is walking with my sister under the cherry trees in Washington DC,and the tiny petals were floating all around us in the breeze as we walked. Magical.
All the more beautiful and cherished for being so fleeting. Love that you chose to depicts it in b/w - it sharpens the senses!

ReplyDeleteCherry blossoms are delicate and fleeting and part of home in my neck of the woods too. Nice shot.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Sandy .. and I so agree with you. Remind me of that saying, rather have a little love then none at all.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure that we have them here in OK. We have our own special blessings but I'll have to start asking around about cherry blossoms.
