This is the clock tower above the Republican-American newspaper building in Waterbury, Connecticut. The building was once the Union Street Railroad Station. The tower has the same design as the Pilgrim Monument in Provincetown, Massachusetts and is modeled after the Torre del Mangia in Siena, Italy.
(I swear one of my legs is longer than the other and that is why my tower and other tall thing shots always lean slightly. I decided to live with it this time rather than edit. I will get it right one of these days.)

You take beautiful photos! I love this!
ReplyDeleteI love old clock towers. Thanks for sharing this lovely pic Sandy.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day, hugs, G
Great capture, Sandy. I find that I frequently have the same slant in my shots. It looks fine in the view, but the shot is crooked. When you figure out why, you you let me know?
ReplyDeleteI always have to straighten my pictures as well.
ReplyDeleteI just love it when everyday things are beautiful. Someone obviously put some thought behind designing this clock tower.
Nice clock tower and a beautiful sky.
ReplyDeleteMy shots often lean, too. I use Picasa to straighten them. Didn't know there was such a feature until my son showed it to me. Handy to save those shots that are so off-kilter they're otherwise unuseable.
Excellent shot of the beautiful clock tower, well done.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend!

I think I lost my comment. Anyway, I was telling you how cool I think your excuse for the leaning tower is and that my excuse is often an "inner ear" problem causing some equilibrum issues with me and my photos.
ReplyDeleteYou have the best clock tours Sandy. I recall others you've posted and this one is so great against the beautifully textured sky.
ReplyDeleteI love how the sky is always blue above the clouds!
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem when I shoot. My wife tells me to carry a shim. There must be a better way,
ReplyDeleteVery reminiscent of the tower in St Mark's Sq in Venice ... nicer sky tho
ReplyDelete*giggle*
ReplyDeleteYou are one funny woman! :-)
You captured the tower beautifully,
a miracle really, considering your handicap (come to think of it, one of my legs plays the same trick with me!). ;-)
I don't mind! You take great pictures!
ReplyDeleteIs it your legs, or maybe it's really modeled after that famous tower in Pisa??? Lean or no, it's a great SWF shot!
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile, Sandy. I think we all do the same thing every once in a while. Maybe we unconsciously pull down or push up when we click the shutter. ;-)
ReplyDeleteGreat capture, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteI love the tower -- leaning or not! I frequently have the same problem! And the sky is beautiful with lovely clouds. Lovely shot! Thanks! Happy SWF! Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteLovely clock tower against the sky Sandy.
ReplyDeleteBet you were standing on the left of a hill really.
A beautiful clock tower and a very pretty sky behind it.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great shot, Sandy. Wow, i haven't been up there in quite a while!
ReplyDeleteLaurie
Another beautiful clock. I don't care if it tilts. I wouldn't have even noticed!
ReplyDeleteI think i must also have one leg shorter than the other as I didn't notice it till you pointed it out!
ReplyDeleteGreat shot all the same.
what a lovely photo, just perfect.....
ReplyDeleteGill in Canada
Now that is the best excuse I have heard. I have to measure my own legs as that is what happends often with my photos too. Still I didn't really notice it leaning as I just thought what a nice composition and beautiful tower.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitelyy not your leg. I like your leaning clock, just like Pisa.
ReplyDeleteI love how the tower shoots above the landscape. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great shot Sandy! I think it looks off because you are left handed!
ReplyDeleteOooo lovely photo of the clock tower. Very nice design. Have a nice weekend, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteGreat shot of the clock tower.
ReplyDeleteVert nice! And it stands above even the trees.
ReplyDeleteThat's a majestic looking clock tower. You need to photograph the leaning tower of Pisa Sandy!
ReplyDeleteWho cares if it leans? I'll just tilt my head ever so slightly.
ReplyDeleteI'd be willing to bet your legs are just fine. Your work as a photographer leaves no doubt. Beautiful as always!
Hahhaa.. I've got the same problem with you. My buildings always seem slanted to one side.
ReplyDeleteI hope that's a good reason for me to invest in a tripod :P
Happy weekend Sandy :)
Very striking photo even if the tower is leaning. I think it gives it character. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletethat's so beautiful for a clock tower. you'll rarely see clock towers in the philippines.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clock tower !
ReplyDeleteItalianate Pedantic Style I beieve ( ;-)
ReplyDeleteno, it's the world that's tilting, Sandy. aloha-
Great shot of the tower, Sandy.
ReplyDeleteHappy Sky Watch!
Nive Towere, but Photoshop is easier than a leg operation!
ReplyDeleteI love clock towers, don't get to see many of them around.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and your visit on my blog
Sandy this is beautiful, and thanks for the history lessons. You are a class act.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful old clocktower! Nicely photographed as well.
ReplyDeleteI love that clock against the blue sky there. What is it? :)
ReplyDeleteAn Italian Campanile in U.S.
ReplyDeleteExactly how they look in Italy, I confirm. Besides, a red one as if made with "Terre de Sienne" (a special clay).
Perfect choice.
Wow, this is an excellent shot and entry. I love the clock and how it stands out on that blue sky.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful tower.. leaning or otherwise. ;)
ReplyDeleteI have seen both towers and climbed the one in Provincetown.
ReplyDeleteNice capture!
Beautiful pic. I'd never have noticed the lean if you hadn't said so.
ReplyDeleteI love this..na- your legs never affected your pic's negatively. That's funny. What a peaceful shot Sandy-
ReplyDeleteExcellent Sandy!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful clock tower in the foreground.
The clouds and trees make the tower seem to float in the sky--that's gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteSo many clock towers really do lean, that yours doesn't seem to at all. It's a beautiful photograph.
Beautiful tower. Makes me curious about the view from it. I had to lol about your leg comment :) Happy Spring!
ReplyDeleteI think I had an old Waterbury pocket watch at one time. Didn't look like this one though. Pappy
ReplyDeleteWonderful shot!
ReplyDeleteI always wondered why my horizons were off at times... it's my legs, good to know.
ReplyDeleteBy the way wonderful image, look at that glorious day!
what a beauty.
ReplyDeleteMY OH MY...I see this photo and think to myself (before reading) this looks like the tower in Siena that I just saw a couple of weeks ago...then I read your post. I will be posting my Siena pictures one day soon...i only took about 2000 pics over two weeks.
ReplyDeletenice shot and the color is perfect.
have a great weekend.

What a neat photo! Beautiful clock tower and blue skies!
ReplyDeleteOh too funny on first glance I thought P'town but that is a lovely photo for sky watch friday fans. Thanks for sharing with us all.
ReplyDeleteLooks fine to me. But just for the record, pretty much everybody's got one leg slightly longer than the other. Just so you know.
ReplyDeleteYou could've used this one for Thursday Challenge this week too! But wherever it was, I'm glad you got it out there for us to enjoy.
I am not sure why, pictures here are not downloading for past few weeks...
ReplyDeleteI so loved your Skywatch pictures :)

I must be lopsided sitting here looking at your picture. I didn't notice the lean until you mentioned it. Happy SWF.
ReplyDeletea lovely shot even if it is the leaning tower of Waterbury!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful skywatch photo. i sky is gorgeous above the clouds, and I don't think I would have noticed the lean if you hadn't mentioned it.
ReplyDeleteMARVELOUS ... methinks I missed this last week so I'm glad I caught it today.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
Thanks for being here.
