Very often these horses are out to lunch when I pass by their pasture on Route 188 in Litchfield, Connecticut, when I am making my way to Wisdom House. On Saturday, I attempted a few photos. I rushed because traffic on this road is pretty intense. The "woosh" of a few cars that passed me while I was trying to compose the shots rocked my car and convinced me to hurry. These animals are the picture of peace; they stand (and eat) in stark contrast to the weekenders who blew by my car.

Would be nice to be able to mill around in this weather in just what you were given by nature and be satisfied with what you can find on the ground.
ReplyDelete....Well maybe not!
I would, however, like to have your photographic talents.
ReplyDeleteLove the horses and the snow!
ReplyDeleteI hope the lunch was horsies munching on greens poking up through the snow. Otherwise, it sounds like the French are in town - they who have an appetite for horse, as illustrated as recently as February 2004: "Shock waves ran through the equine world last week when it emerged that bourguignon de poulain - foal stew - had been served to 250 leading French horse rearers at a gala lunch at the national stud in Annecy, eastern France."
ReplyDeletethat is a wonderful shot! very peaceful.

Great shots. You're brave for stopping and getting them. There are so many times I see something I'd love to photograph, but I can't get the shot from a safe place. I guess that's the drawback of living in suburbia.
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful scene -- especially if you can ignore the cars whizzing by!
ReplyDeleteAhh... a true pro. You got the shot most people won't because you dared to do what it took to get it. In a large number of cases, that's the only difference between the great shot and the merely good one.
ReplyDeletepeaceful pasture as humans rush by hurrying to get someplace else.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful horses

ReplyDeleteOh I wish I could take photos like this --- You have so much talent how do you deal with it all?
Two worlds side by side. A stark contradiction.
ReplyDeleteGreat photos.
When life gives us pause and we notice the disparities we realize we are small and yet strong and able to be a apart from and yet a part of, both of these worlds.--Photography lets us find these pauses more often than some
ReplyDeleteLovely photo, Sandy :)

ReplyDeleteNice colours, the horses, they are all different!
ReplyDeleteHow nice to see some of the beasts of nature being so unaffected by mankind rushing in our insattiable need to get nowhere of real importance.
