Home in Connecticut is near a wonderful swamp that teems with life during the warm weather. In the cold weather, I enjoy walking along the edge of it to enjoy the color and the patterns that undergird all the color and beauty of summer. It's all good--even if most of the residents are off on vacation.

Oh, I love the marshes and swamps and bogs! (We have a few nearby too) They're all lovely, but the bottom photo is a wonderful image of winter. I sat and stared a while.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
It does sound nice! lovely photos
ReplyDeleteIt's like going to a theme park during the offseason when the park is completely deserted and when you can photograph the structures at your heart's content. Or that's just me. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the the third photo, very intriguing.
I can see all those animals inmy mind.great post.
ReplyDeleteA swamp! And is that milkweed?! It's been over half a century since I've pulled milkweed seeds. Thanks for the memories of childhood in Chicago.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sandy. So glad you appreciated my stars.
Looks so Icy...brrrr. We had the sun shining today so it wasn't as cold...but I bet we'll get there...Have a nice week!
ReplyDeleteI've noticed we've left a lot of similar comments around the meme today - I guess great minds really do think alike. :) Love the photos, especially the last one. It looks dark and brooding without being dismal or scary.
ReplyDeleteI love your winter view of the swamp.
ReplyDeleteSandy,
ReplyDeleteI think you have an eye for the beauty in all things.
What a wonderfully moody place to have on your doorstep! Superb last shot.
ReplyDeleteYour swamp is simply gorgeous this time of year. Thank you for the peek!
ReplyDeleteSandy: Beautiful captures at the swamp.
ReplyDeleteBTW: I haven't even shown the older buildings that still exist and will get to that architecture.

Those seeds, they start flying as soon as they pop out of that cover, right? I don't get to see them here in city any more. Nice shots of your place.
ReplyDeleteWonderful, it is interesting to see what lives in the swamp.

ReplyDeleteGreat photos. I really like all of the muted colors and great patterns. Beautiful. Makes me want to get my camera and look for patterns. Maybe tomorrow, it's dark outside now.

Swamps conjure up snakes for me, but this is a beautiful swamp
ReplyDeleteFantastic close up photography. Thanks for posting.
ReplyDeleteAs a hydrologist I approve of this post. Nice photos.
ReplyDeleteLove your swamp pictures. Reminds me of our great Okefenokee.
ReplyDeleteWell you're familiar with some of our wetlands here in NC -- the ones along the coast anyway.
ReplyDeleteAre those cranberries in the second shot? Kind of looks like it, but I don't remember then being "fuzzy" like that.
Love the skim of ice in the last photo. Looks cold, but there's a warm mood to it.
First photo looks familiar but I can't place it. I want to say vanilla but I don't think that grows in a swamp! LOL

ReplyDeletevery beautiful photographs sandy. so far this has been one of my favorite. i like the first two close up shot.
ReplyDeleteInteresting look at the swamp, and that look suspiciously like ice forming! Brrr!
ReplyDeleteMore frosty berries! In a way I like the cold, it cleanses. As long as the fingers and toes are protected, it is good!
ReplyDeleteVery interesting! I wonder what the first three would look like with a layer of snow on them?
ReplyDeleteThose are interesting plants. The 3rd one looks like "cotton" that you can blow in the wind.
ReplyDeleteevem life meeds redt
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful - so few and although so much colours:)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images! :-)
ReplyDeleteI spent my childhood by a river and its swamps,
and winter meant no pesky critters biting me! ;-)
That looks a beautiful, magical place. Lovely.
ReplyDeleteThat's surely beautiful place - I especially like the last picture because of the ice on its' surface - magnificent! Thank you for your visit and greetings from Croatia.
ReplyDeleteSandy, these are mesmerizing. Especially the starker winter photo--all broken surfaces and shimmer.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go for a walk round there with you! So many neat little details hiding!

ReplyDeleteSandi
I love the first and second pictures!
ReplyDeleteThe pod in the third picture is waiting to burst out with life; fling each seedling far and wide as a messenger of new life. Beautiful, indeed.
ReplyDeleteI do not know much of swamps except from my geography books ( which i did not read ;) ) but this was a different post for me ... thanks for sharing !
