That's a wonderful carousel Sandy. I need to go to the one in my city which is restored from the same ones I rode on as a child. Thanks for reminding me that I haven't done that and for sharing this beautiful one.
Oh those are wonderufl pictures! You know, it just occurred to me that's one thing I didn't do enough of as a kid. Wonder where the closest one is to me now!
This looks very fun for adults and children alike. I love the detail you have in your photos; they are alive. We have a very interesting carousel in Missoula with all hand carved and painted ponies.
What whimsy, Sandy! One of the rides I never missed at Disney (and I had a resident's pass) was the Carousel! There is just something completely magical about them.
I'm also partial to the first photo. I absolutely LOVE carousels. They're full of warm memories and they're charming.
Although, I used to work in a home for the profoundly retarded. There was a broken carousel that sat at the very back of the property at the edge of a wooded area. It was one of the lonliest sights... That one kind of broke me heart. I wrote a few stories about it while sitting on one of the horses.
Anyway... as I was saying. Great photos. Fond thoughts did flood into my mind.
I lived in Connecticut for the first two years of my married life and had a son there. I traveled all over CT but don't remember seeing this merry go round. . . It is a real beauty! I am sure it has provided much amusement for young and old alike!
Catch a painted pony let the spinning wheel.... Oh, you know the tune. Who was it? Blood, Sweat, and Tears? "What Goes Up Must Come Down." Nice subjects for an artsy display. Pappy
These are beautiful pics Sandy! Here on the Toronto Islands we have an antique carousel that still operates each summer :) Your pics remind me of fun times!
