They must be deaf! Wow - what an odd place for a nest unless the bells aren't actually rung anymore? I love your Rapunzel observation on my picture - thanks for stopping by.
The photo made me think of how often people will try to avoid disturbing a bird's nest -- maybe that's a sign of hope for us all :)
Thanks for your comment on my not-so-wordless-photo (I signed in before I think I got the full grasp). I admit it's not inspirational...unless a smile and shake of the head can be called inspiration. Take care!
Thanks for stopping by. I live by a dam on the DesPlains River Some one on a rubber raft went over the dam The river is cold and so he is now. We have flooding ion this area usually you can walk across the river.
well, at first glance, i thought it was some sort of effigy/scarecrow: the bell as the body, the "bell-holder" as the arms, the speaker as the head, and the dark branches/nest(?)as the hair...
maybe the birds are deaf that's why they can tolerate the noise :)
That must make a lot of noise ! We once slept besides a church tower in Italy at Easter !! The bell rang all half an hour during the whole night ! A nightmare, lol !
I always wondered about the birds in the belfry. At first I just figured they don't hear the way humans do so it doesn't bother them. But what about the vibration???
I know, I think weird things. Lovely picture. Happy WW
This is a riot. I can visualize the birds getting up early Sunday morning and saying "hurry up kids, the bells gonna ring, if we don't get out of here, we're all gonna be deaf."
One year we had doves (aka pigeons by prettier name) make a nest right by our front door, above the light there. They really are the stupidest birds. We shooed them away and then knocked out the nest. They didn't build the nest again but were always hanging around and getting underfoot, literally. Endless times I had to watch where I was walking around the front of the house. I never understood how a wild bird could be such an easy prey for the local cats. They just waited on the steps until I was just about to actually step on them and then they would take off at the last moment.
boy that is true. i remember our sunday school class used to ring the church bell when we were in the fourth grade; the year before we received first communion; all taking turns on sunday.

Missing this house
Hmmm, wonder how they chose that spot - and did they move out on Sunday? ;)
ReplyDeleteI can just hear the conversation between the pair. "I TOLD you it was too good to be true..." Nice picture. I love church bells in modest doses.
ReplyDeleteWow, I should say no sleeping in on Sunday. Loved the picture and the caption. Very clever.
ReplyDeleteOk I think a conversation between birds that lived there would sound like this "Tweet Tweet" Translated that means "What did you Say?"
ReplyDeleteCool post!

No wonder sparrows fall to the ground with the Father's leave -:)
ReplyDeleteThat would be a rude awakening.
ReplyDeleteI always wondered about the birds in the belfry. At first I just figured they don't hear the way humans do so it doesn't bother them. But what about the vibration???
ReplyDeleteI know, I think weird things. Lovely picture. Happy WW

How many eggs did that bell crack?
ReplyDeleteTalk about a wake-up call.
ReplyDeleteThat is one BEAUTIFUL photograph, Sandy.
Do you think they 'hear' the bells, because they can sit on electricity wires and not be electrocuted...
ReplyDeleteThis is a riot. I can visualize the birds getting up early Sunday morning and saying "hurry up kids, the bells gonna ring, if we don't get out of here, we're all gonna be deaf."

This reminds me of the book by P.D. Eastman, The Best Nest... I am sure you have heard of it, it is one of my kids' all time favorites.
ReplyDeleteOhhh.. not a good place for nesting..
ReplyDeleteI can already imagine the loud "dong" from it. Heheh.
ReplyDeleteNo sleeping on Sundays- I so agree with that!

I wonder how those birds can take the loud sound. They must take a momentary retreat during the ringing of the bell and go back after. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
