Wordless Wednesday: Maxfield Parrish

This is my photo of one of Maxfield Parrish's illustrations from the Arabian Nights, Their Best Known Tales, edited by Kate Douglas Wiggen and Nora A. Smith and published in 1909. This was dad's book when he was a kid.

  8. Hi Sandy. That is a nice illustration. It has a look we don't see anymore unless someone is trying to convey 'old.'
I am envious of most artists (my fave is van Gogh) and writers. And since I and too old for new tricks and don't believe in reincarnation, I will just read more and hack away at blogging.
    Happy WW!
    ..
I'll check my old 'Billy Goat Gruff' book for illustrations, your oldie made a good WW subject.

I read you don't get a true sense of a Parrish work unless you see it in person, that pictures of his work don't cut it unless the camera is at the exact right angle.

I DISAGREE. This photo captures the Parrish book illustration perfectly.
