Today's Flowers: Ferns and More Ferns

These ferns stretched out in the dappled light of early autumn back in Bethelehem a week or so ago.  I have always loved ferns.  They are so cool and fresh, and they smell peppery and lovely.  Maeve was pretty impressed by these specimens.  They offered her a whole encyclopedia's worth of information about her new neighbors in these words.

  5. We actually have them in Arizona--believe it or not Sandy. But more plentiful in the Midwest.

  7. I love cool ferns but they don't grow in hot desert climes...

  8. Maeve had a new world to discover. I love ferns too; have still not gotten over my surprise that we found them in Florida. (Our first time there, I thought it would be all sand and palm trees, but there is a lot of jungly vines and ferns too and I love that about it.) Was used to the nice ferns here in rainy Oregon, but never tire of them here or there or in your pictures!
