Adella has been working away getting ready for her Nationals audition and her All-State concert.  It's a treat to listen to her, and a thrill to hear her persist and get better and better. She turns this crazy looking thing into the sound of pure bliss. Hanging out and listening to her play, I got little caught up in her earring collection.  These bicycles are among her favorites. Later that day, she asked me to pose for a photo project in which she had to get somebody to pose a la Marilyn Monroe.  There were no pretty dresses and subway vents for me--just an eyelash curler (a very strange thing that looks like an instrument of torture) and a tube of lipstick and "stare out the window" and "run your fingers through your hair."  It was fun.  I'm no Marilyn Monroe, to be sure, but my daughter made me feel like a million bucks.  It's part of the privilege of hanging around the house. Wordless Wednesday

We've had some busy days this month between Adella's track, drama, and All-State Band practices as well as her preparations for her Nationals audition recording. Add to that visits with friends and family, birthday parties and walking (dancing with) the dogs along the patches of grass revealed by the receding snow line, and my own work responsibilities, and the bottom line is that I am a slacker as a blogger.  I miss the online interaction with good folks who love the real world around them, too. Anticipating spring, I had to decorate the house with another hothouse flower.  I've never met a grocery story flower I didn't like. Last night's moon back lit the few remaining clouds to create just the right amount of magic as Adella, her cousins, and their cousins played a few games of tag to close out a day of celebrating my nephew Alex's 15th birthday. This is one of those "Why do I bother?  I can't see a darn thing with the glare on my phone?" photos.  I had a sense when I took it that the sun was off stage.  Looking at this now, as I sit in frigid Connecticut and remember how nice it was to free of the shackles of winter, I realize that every day this week I wore some shade of green and blue together.  It's a remembering.  Here, where the sun has been off stage so much, it's all we can do! Meet the king and queen of the household, who wasted no time climbing into our brand-new, fluffy, and delightfully comfy papason chair.  As long as they're happy.  Later that weekend, we left the king and queen to their own devices for a day out. We went as guests of our friends to the Westchester Broadway Theater to see Ragtime, the Musical .  It was a firstf-class production, and the food was great. The weekend went fast, and now we are well into the work week--with promises of snow and sunshine alike.  I guess that's what the weather folks mean by "dynamic."  You just never know. Wordless Wednesday

Throughout last week, we heard about all that big snow that would head for Connecticut buy the end of the weekend.  Then, the Weather Channel called it a"dynamic storm" and, poof, the snow was off the Conneticut grid.  Dynamic is as dynamic does, though, so who knew what would happen until it happened?  So we went to the mall.    The new Microsoft Store at the West Farms Mall was packed.  There was no getting near it.  It was  a cool thing to see Microsoft giving the little-i people a run for the money.  I've never been a fan of i-products, and I became a negative fan after my i-Pod (a gift) screen shattered after falling onto my foot and a carpet and the company wanted to charge me $20 to talk to customer service.    We were on the prowl for some all-black performance clothes for Adella's All-State concert in April, and we found them at Nordstrom--on sale.  Beautiful thing!  Feeling good about that, we made our way to one of Adella's favorite s
