Wordless Wednesday: Meet the Manager

From Topsail, April 2011
From Topsail, April 2011
This sign is stuck in the mud in the intracoastal waterway behind my parents' home in North Carolina.  Always, always, always, there is a bird perched on the sign. Usually, it is a pelican.  The presence of this cormorant suggested me a shake-up in personnel.  Or an opportunistic cormorant who needed a rest.  With the subcontracting that goes on these days, you just never know.

    Hi Sandy!

I'd much rather have him/her as the Manager than most people.

    Great capture!

  4. That bird is either asserting its authority, or its claim to a convenient resting place ;)

  5. reminds me of my hubby and I who have a special pew we like to sit in at church. Sometimes if we arrive late, it's taken by earlier birds...lol!

  16. Pelicans are not birds we see over here, so to see them gliding together over the waves like you've captured them in your header is magical.
Maybe the sign in your post needs to be changed to under new management. A really nice set of photos.

  19. He probably was on a higher perch so that he could possibly see a comely lady. He has those Crests up. Cute picture and commentary.

  27. Great pose! We have a few cormorants hanging around our local pond too.. depleting the fish population. I hope they move on soon, lest there not be enough incentive left for the herons to visit.
