What I like best this time of year is the warmth of the sun on my back on a clear and breezy winter day. It's cold out, but I'm not. Spring's far away, but not so far (This idea took me here.). In each small thing is a universe--in the moss and vines clinging to the remains of a white birch, in the small tracks looping around the freeze-dried brush, in the water that runs and freezes with the rise and fall of the day. It's all good.

It looks as cold there as it is here. I, much like you, don't mind the cold and snow. It is winter after all. May the winter winds always be at your back.

Every now and then I get tired of what seems to be endless gray here in the northwest, but the beauty is still there and I just have to remind myself. Your post is one of those wonderful reminders! I was just noticing today that although there was a bitterly cold north wind, the sun is a little higher in the sky, and we hat big old fat spring clouds in the sky. Give it a month and it will be nice in Oklahoma.

ReplyDeleteYour perspective about the beauty of a winter day is so true. One the one hand, I hate the cold of winter and the snow that makes it hard to get to work. Yet on the other hand, I can enjoy the beauty of all the snow we often get in Colorado.
