Weekend Snapshot: A Father's Spirit

We traveled to Rhode Island on Friday to visit my husband's father, who is dying. Along the way, we came across these images, which are part of a commissioned mural by the Peruvian artist ccopacatty at the Arnold Lumber Company in West Kingston. The mythic quality of these images captured my imagination. It seems to me they stand as metaphors for the epic potential of the human soul, particularly of fathers. I created this video to honor that spirit.

  6. Sandy, what beautiful photos of the artists work. The video is so good - I watched the whole thing taking in the pix and the music. They went so well together. Thanks Sandy for it.

I have a weekend photo up, too.

It's a potential we all strive for. Hopefully some of us get there-though the road is far from easy. Others do not, no matter how hard they try. While we all could use prayers, those are the folks who need them most.

  13. The minute I saw the hammer over the hand, I felt this sadness...and then I read about your father in law...God's Will be done. My mother in law passed away 2 weeks ago.

    death, inevitable.

Strength to your husband and your entire family Sandy.

    Great shot!

You reminded my of my grandma. She no longer can eat, so the doctors have put her on tubes to keep her alive. She doesn't recognise any of us any more anyway.

  24. Hello Sandi, thanks for your comment on my blog. That is an old quilt pattern called Dutch Girl. I suspect that the quilt that pillow came from is from around the same time period as my grandmother's quilt, the 1940's.
