In these places, there is a need for sand. It seems pretty clear and simple that this newly applied sand will need grasses planted on them come spring, but there are politicians who are opposed to moving sand around and just want the grasses. These people must not walk the beach. If they did they'd realize there really can't be one without the other. Even little Bo and big Honor could tell you that. Just look:
When money and politics come into the mix, the pure sense that even the dogs have comes to no account. It remains to be seen what shape the dunes will take come summer.
Here's to all the humble wonders that hold our world together!

I do so agree with you and wonder where we go from here??? When are truly caring and concerned people able to be "the voice"??? Wonderful post and beautiful captures, Sandy!
ReplyDeleteOh my! The photo of the house shows how much erosion has damaged the area! Yes, the sand need the grass, and the grass needs the sand.
ReplyDelete"I brains were TNT, politicians would not make a loud bang if they went off!"
ReplyDeleteHope you like the words on Past Participle as well as the pictures.

Isn't this the truth. Here is to those humble wonders...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos with lovely dunes on the beach.
ReplyDeletesure hope they figure it out!
ReplyDeletelove grasses as much as wildflowers. :)
Dunes are so important! The town of Manaloking NJ JUST opened for the residents to return to their homes ruined by that other Sandy. I hope they rebuoild with dunes in mind (they did have big dunes before).
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pics. It's so frustrating when ignorant politicians decide on things of common sense. Maybe animals should rule the world.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images Sandy and thanks for sharing what is going on in your world. I hope that they consider rebuilding the dunes.
ReplyDeletegood point made!
ReplyDeleteHow true! Let's hope the grasses will get planted soon, for all our sakes. Have a great week Sandy, lovely pictures and I enjoyed seeing those cute dogs.
ReplyDeleteYou're so right -- they matter.
ReplyDeleteI loved the look of the dunes grasses when we were traveling along the East Coast.
And I just took some photos of an explanatory sign about beach grasses when we were on the Keys. Waiting to use the information when I get some better pictures of the Florida grasses themselves.
Oh yes I agree.
ReplyDeleteThey have to put rocks around where the houses are and somehow protect the beach with more sand. Sometimes the ocean takes sand away so they need the scrapers to bring it all back
Strangely enough as a pipeline engineer I understand what you are saying. Vegetation controls erosion better than anything. Just piling sand or dirt, or dirt or rocks doesn't solve anything.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
