The birch trees have lost most of their leaves already. There was no glorious burst of yellow but a fading and flaking away. When Dell and I went for a walk yesterday, we noticed this fungus on a tree that seemed to be eating the life out of the poor thing.

The lilies were up and out in numbers. We stood and watched the fish swim in and out of the shadows and reflections.

Della came across this little hopper in his racing stripes and ready to go, except that we had to motivate his springy self to cross the street while he had a chance.

The road was littered with the remains of newts. It was strange and disturbing. This guy had some help, and I think he was glad to see us go when the photo op was over.

Awesome perspective in that first shot!
ReplyDeleteWonderful autumnal light. Love that first shot, although I feel sorry for the poor tree.
ReplyDeleteAutumns has come here with gales and storms.
Beautiful shots !!!
ReplyDeleteYesterday was a perfect day to be outside here too. This time of year the fungus is growing like crazy. Interesting to see this. I never see newts. Lizards are hard to come by around here too. I guess we don't have the right habitat.
ReplyDeleteInteresting kind of fungus. I have never seen them before. Still we have fungus appearing everywhere as autumn is on its way here as well.
ReplyDeletePoor newts! We have a lot of snails and slugs now. There are also more spiders at the moment than we are used to have. This is because there are hardly any wasps, due to a soft winter and a very cold spring with frost, which killed 75% of the wasp population.
Fabulous fall...it's here!! Thanks for sharing your take on it!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful
Hugs

welcome autumn with it's refreshing coolness...
ReplyDeleteMaybe the fungi are steps for elves so they can climb the tree.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a really nice walk, even if the blue heron didn't want his picture taken.
ReplyDeleteWonderful early Autumn colors and best of all, the great 'wildlife'....I had to enlarge the newt picture as I actually wasn't even sure what one was...I guess it's like a salamander? I have to go google (my new thing to learn for this hour of the day ;>)!
ReplyDeleteLove your Fall pictures and specially the first one!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light... beautiful your (Our) World!
Greetings, Anna :))
