I used to love reading russian authors because they were soooo full of soul and mental anguish and fear. Lives churning and foaming like the little wave in your photo. The old monks in the orthodox church were funny to read about and yet some of them were very holy. You couldn't help but be touched. The French authors around this time in the 18th century, were good as well as were the old books from the English Industrial revolution. I loved reading all of them capturing a moment of time and history. These people had something to complain about and yet they never did.
