Our World Tuesday: Bring on the Light

A very dear friend recently pointed out to me that I take plenty of photos of water but none at all of people. She suggested I get the long lens on and get a few shots off of humans doing what humans do here. That's my friend telling me to stretch my limits, and I take her point. The only problem is that nobody's here right now. The woolly mammoths that blew in from Canada with the most recent Arctic blast scared 'em all off. So it's me and the clouds and the birds that aren't at all afraid of woolly mammoths and that's about it. Soon as a few people show up, I'll be there to spy on them. Meanwhile, here's the light that the great one called into being.

  1. These are awesome shots, Sandy! Love the rainbow! The last shot with the light on the water and that glorious sky is mind boggling gorgeous! Hope you have a great start to your week!

  2. I thoroughly enjoyed your shots Sandy. Nature is my favorite shots to take photos of. I love rainbows and you've captured a beauty there.

  4. I like nature shots, people photos are difficult because you feel like you are invading their privacy even with long lens...

  6. What a rainbow. Very hopeful shots today. I've been thinking that I need to do more people shots but I'm kind of shy about it with people I don't know and a long lens seems kind of sneaky. But it is about stretching oneself also.

  8. Dear Sandy, just continue taking pictures with no people on, whether of water or sky.;) I love your scenery photography. The presence of people rarely add to the allure of an image, unless it is a picture of a loved one.;)
    The last shot is amazing.;)
    Have a great Monday

  11. I love walking on the beach in the winter when no one is there. A friend had their honeymoon 30 years ago in January at Topsail. Perfect time in my opinion. Gorgeous lighting in these beautiful shots.

  12. Sandy -- I take TERRIBLE pictures of people (when I even remember to take my camera to places where they are) so your friend would be lecturing me as well! Keep on doing what you're doing -- we know you love us and I'm sure all your real-life friends know it too~

  15. It's more than your photos that grab me and pull me inside... it's your thoughts. I love the beauty of who you are inside at least as much as the scenes you capture. Nah... I definitely like you more. SO, I have all the confidence in the world that when and if you decide on your own to incorporate a human into your photographs, they will indeed add another layer to what you want to share with us that day. Scenery invokes emotion. People are emotion. These are, like so much of your work, shots that bring a spark within me to flame.... I can sit and conjure up memories, dreams, desires... sigh... what a lovely thing to give visitors to your posts.
