When the cattails grow whiskers,
I know the season of scaring crows and small children is upon us.
The junior docents at the Glebe House in Woodbury put their talents to work to draw customers to the living haunted history tour of the house and the local ancient graveyard. Docents lead the unsuspecting on a walk through a haunted graveyard in which the junior docents pop up from their graves to tell the unsavory but very interesting history of our homely village.
I think the fellow above actually gave a presentation at last year's tour. This silvery, bearded gent was in the room of the house where funerals took place. He was very impatient with Woodburians who did not know their own history. Perhaps his disgust in us got the best of him.
Despite his pedantic ways, we managed to laugh and to enjoy and to come back for another year of taking pictures of the kids' creative work even if we didn't take the tour.
Happy Halloween!

This looks like lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteWonderful fall images and fun ones for halloween.
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween - thanks for sharing these great pics!!
ReplyDeleteHere is something few people know. I hate Halloween. I feel like a crabby old lady but when I was about 6 I had an incident that I look back on and call it "The Halloween Trauma". Long story so to make it short someone scared me and I never recovered. I have hated Halloween ever since. Even at 40 I still sit home waiting for the night to be over because the loud screechers freak me out.
ReplyDeleteThere, I told you. *hangs head in shame*
Thank you for the exciting tour! Halloween is celebrated more and more in my country too!Though we have no trick or treat children walking from door to door.
ReplyDeletegood use of halloween to tie in local history and cemeteries-i love it!
ReplyDeleteFun way to learn a bit of local history. And that beard is wonderful -- very original.
ReplyDeleteCat tails and Scarecrows, ideal for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteHalloween as a celebration is gaining hold even in Scandinavia, which pleases me as I love it.;) I guess I love best the pumpkin decorations and Jack-o-lanterns.;))
ReplyDeleteHappy Halloween dear Sandy.;)

ReplyDeleteThis is a fun way to utilize Halloween as a teaching moment. These are the kind of images I like to see during the season … not really scary but very creative and kind of cute!

ReplyDeleteThat looks like lots of fun. I love Halloween, it is the perfect Holiday. The weather is mild, you don't have to buy gifts for people, and nobody feels sorry for you if you have to celebrate Halloween by yourself.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea! And those costumes and crows are just amazing - so creative!

:) Great collection. Makes me smile.
ReplyDeleteWe get trickles of the halloween culture in Australia but my peninsula has turned this season into a scarecow competition! That has become quite popular! Interesting photos!
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry that Halloween was ruined for Birdie...I hope it can be rectified and soon!
ReplyDeleteI love Halloween and decorating for it is about 90% of the fun!!

It sounds and looks like great fun.
ReplyDeleteEducational and entertaining! And maybe a little scary too.
ReplyDeleteThe scarecrows in the second and last pictures are cute, don't care for the crabby skeleton in the brown hat though.
ReplyDeleteScarecrow festivals have been taking off over here for a few years now, but usually in late Spring, early summertime.
What a delightful twist on the season. I can just here the fellow and his impatience.
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
