I started Sunday in the company of a dear friend whom I haven't seen in a while. We shared breakfast and spent some time walking around Woodbury taking photos. Afterwards, we sat down to ice-cold birch beers and compared photographic notes. Here are some of my images:
Around lunchtime, it was off to March Farms in Bethlehem, Connecticut, for some apples. The farm had come under attack by two hail storms, so the fruit was pretty banged up--pocked or bruised or discolored. There will be plenty of cider to go around this year! Adella managed to find a good one amid the wreckage, though.
Farm life includes goats and sheep happy to pose for the camera as well as geese. This debonair chap caught my eye. So did the fellow below, though he was making eyes at us for our sugar-coated cider doughnuts and was off when a better opportunity came along. Still, how not to fall into those eyes! I gave him a taste of my doughnut with no regrets.

ReplyDeleteTerrific photos, Sandy ! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI have seen a painting by Mary White very similar to your photo of Adella. Those eyes of the Chocolate Lab would make me melt too. I had a Choc Lab for 15 years. He was a dear. Happy Autumn.
ReplyDeletemmm, love hot apple cider just as much as cool crisp apples.
ReplyDeleteTerrific Autumn shots.

ReplyDeleteLovely to see pics from your corner of the world.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a wonderful day made more special by spending it with a friend. Great fall color and what fun to make feathered and furry friends. I'll take the apples however I can get them! Cider!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a glorious day Sandy. I wish I could have come along to see all this and more fall beauty.
ReplyDeleteOh for a glass or three of birch beer! There must have been, in historical times, some Latvian settlers as birch beer is one of our national drinks.
My DD (read darling daughter) has just landed on your continent and will be giving work-shops in New Hampshire for a while and enjoying your fall and Halloween.
Autumn and its delightful colors. Lovely series.
ReplyDeleteSuch great Fall photos. You are a few weeks ahead of us it looks like.
ReplyDeleteWonderful set of images. My favorite is one with the birds.
ReplyDeleteLovely representations of fall!
ReplyDeleteSimply love Fall photos from your part of the world! All so beautiful! The apples, despite the damage, look most tempting!!
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful pictures. I really like autumn. It was nice of you to share some of your doughnut.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderfully indulgent and relaxing day! I love the autumnal tones in these photos.
ReplyDeleteFall has really arrived! Love the red and orange colors!
ReplyDeleteA lovely collection of views round your countryside! And I'd be giving in to those eyes too!
ReplyDeleteA delightful day for photographs and very nice to spend it with a friend!
ReplyDeleteGreat fall pictures. Is birch beer like root beer? I've never heard the term. That goat has quite the attitude!
ReplyDeleteVery fine post, Sandy, all so beautiful images!
ReplyDeleteI am looking after my mom and dad's chocolate lab and have trouble resisting those chocolaty eyes. He is older now and the droop which makes me feel even more sad for him. To add to it I know he is getting a little depressed because he misses his master and mistress and home.
ReplyDelete(PS- I am intrigued by the hand on the door. What does it say?)
Sandy, great mosaic of autumn images. Love the crisp red apples and the goat. I find irony in the image of the door with the welcoming flowers but the hand sticker that says STOP! Cinder donuts sound so yummy. It has been years since I have had one!
ReplyDeleteDear Sandy, beautiful fall images, I simply adore the first one.;))
ReplyDeletexoxo
