Sneads Ferry shares a zip code with North Topsail Beach. We're just on the other side of the bridge, which is across the Intracoastal, which is to say on the other side of the New River. There's water all over the place around here, and it all has a name. Shrimping is a big part of life at Snead's Ferry. There are days I head for the beach to find five or six shrimp boats hard at work beyond the breakers. I hope they are kind to the sea turtles.

Tourists are a nuisance, but they feed the local economy, that's for sure.

I liked this place for the graffiti-style advertising on the wall. Fun stuff.

I tried to convince my daughter we should have a dog at the antique bus thing. We will. Did I mention I love it here?

Wonderful shots. I can see beautiful art.
ReplyDeleteI can understand why you love this place. It has much in common with Calabash, which is a place we love.
ReplyDeleteI love that place, and I don't even live there! But your love for the area is evident. Great photos, and thanks so much for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI am enjoying your NC beach posts. When I was a young lad, we vacationed along that stretch of coast - mostly Wrightsville and Carolina beaches. Check out the car pulling your hotdog stand.
ReplyDeleteWonderful images!
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks for your fun contribution to this week's Limerick-Off!

What a great place. It is amazing how many shrimp I can eat at a sitting, it would be just the right place for me getting them fresh off the boats.
ReplyDeleteTourists, I used to sneer at them when I was a kid living in touristy spots, now I are one sometimes. It can be liberating just to be a tourist. The expectations are very low.
ReplyDeleteI love the hot dog trailer and care. I'd have to have a dog also. Free photo with your dog I presume?
Yes, tourits are a problem when you live in such a beautiful place, the trouble is I love to be a tourist ! We have many tourists here too because I live in Waterloo the historical place where Napoleon lost the battle. But as you say, they bring money !
ReplyDeletethat's a funny van Sandy, I hope they had VEGGIE dogs!!!

ReplyDeleteferries give me a uzzy feeling, When I was in pri school, they had a ferry near my grandpa's place, and we thought it was majestic, a giant boat taking cars.
