For a while there, I was not a big fan of the rose; it seemed to me a manufactured flower, a botanical cliche. My view changed this week, after a few too many dreary days during which February seemed to be flinging around shades of gray as if it were again late December. A dozen of these roses lifted my spirits and got me to thinking if someone out there is manufacturing roses, they could be doing a lot worse!

Oh Sandy, this is so beautiful...you've truly captured the essence of a rose here...definitely not the long stem red manufactured looking variety.

Going out yesterday and seeing all the subtle signs of impending spring makes me very hopeful this long dreary winter is on its way out!
ReplyDeleteRoses have always been one of my most favorite flowers, even if they don't like growing for me!

I love roses and this is such a beautiful shot.
ReplyDeleteHow can you not fall in love with such delicate petals?
They are one of my favorite flowers but then I love all kinds of flowers.
Especially perrenials which surprise you every year they come out.I always wanted carpet flowers instead of grass for a lawn.
That's a beautiful rose. Roses were never a favorite of mine until I started growing them. They bring me so much pleasure when they start blooming although they won't be doing that for a while. I like the imperfections and variations of garden roses but in the winter the manufactured variety can also be a boost as you said.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose--such soft, delicate colors--perfect.
ReplyDeleteI cannot say there is a flower I dislike. I love any of them!
ReplyDeleteI've always preferred the soft shaded roses over the red. Soft pinks, yellows and of course the beautiful peachy tones of your photo. I keep one of those in my header. I'm glad someone gave you a dozen roses to lift your spirits.
