I made these pictures at Harkness Memorial Park in New London, Connecticut, with my daughter a few weeks ago. It was a mild day in early autumn, and we came to the beautiful gardens there from behind a building that wasn't the mansion. As we walked, I had the feeling of someone who had crept in the back gate, and I found myself admiring the flowers from behind. As I took pictures, I felt I was tapping them on the shoulder. It was a quiet, personal, afternoon on the Sound. Beyond, "My battery is dead, mom," and "Use my other camera," my daughter and I spoke very little there. It was too beautiful.

Cosmos truly are beautiful flowers. Thanks for the memories of the growing season. :)
ReplyDeleteThe cosmos really picked up the blue from the sky in these photos. It is fun to see what colors white flowers reflect. It sounds like you have a relaxed outing with your daughter.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful capture Sandy. :)

I have found to see what is beautiful in this world, taps us into those deeper feelings. Hopefully you see in their uniqueness, your own. Thanks for the post.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen that type of Cosmos before -- I especially loved the first shot.
ReplyDeleteThese flowers are so pretty and delicate. Love 'em!
ReplyDeleteSandy - is there something new with Today's Flowers where you now have to be an invited guest? I've tried the link several times and I get that message over and over again. Unless blogger is messing up...
I went to add my link this morning and can't. Thanks if you can help.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know the name of Cosmos before. It has the same name in Dutch but I don't know if this flower grows here. Anyway I can admire it now on your blog. Thanks for sharing, Sandy! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteSuch lovely flowers! And great captures as always! And thanks as always for sharing the beauty, Sandy! Enjoy your day!

They almost glow - how lovely they are. And isn't it wonderful to be in companionable silence?
ReplyDeleteSo delicate and beautiful! The first shot is awesome!
ReplyDeleteWonderful photos with feelings my friend.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Sandy. I like that your daughter understands and feels that same sense of peace. And that she's also into photography.
ReplyDeleteWhite cosmos have a soulful quality, especially at night when they seem to glow in the darkness.
ReplyDeleteSo often silence is worth more than all the gold in the world.
Stay well my friend and keep enjoying the small gifts that life offers so freely, they are the ones that really matter.

You're right! You captured not just the flower image but also its essence. A real artwork!

ReplyDeleteLovely presentation...the cosmos are beautiful. The one behind that has dried up presents a most interesting contrast to its blooming sister. I really like these two shots. Great shots.
