This rose bloomed between two of its predecessors outside the Poplar Grove Plantation in Wilmington, North Carolina, a few weeks ago. Beyond the roses was this garden and a tree (What kind of?) draped in Spanish moss. I like the moss very much. It seems to insist on coolness no matter how muggy the day.

Spanish moss always makes me think of ghosts: women draped in gossamer floating on a breeze.
ReplyDeleteAnd I hope that it will. Go on and on.....since I have come to the desert, I miss a little of the Spanish moss, it is lovely to see. I think it says no to the dry clime.
ReplyDeleteyou have a lovely place sandy as flowers bloom often. truly blessed that you don't end up posting flowers from time to time.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous roses, love the color! Spanish Moss is one thing I always loved about the deep South! Your photo reminded me of the trees in New Orleans and in Savannah! Enjoy your day, Sandy!

ReplyDeleteClematis
Imaginative title for the new and spent roses!
ReplyDeleteI didn't like Spanish moss the first time I saw it many many years ago but I've grown to like it's southern charm. :)
Lovely and bright flower.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Rose.
ReplyDeleteWild Beauties. Have a safe and blessed Sunday!
I love roses
ReplyDeleteI have some roses from my garden on the left of my computer. Recently, I heard that they can lower blood pressure. Don't know about that but they sure are beautiful. I'v never paid much attention to moss - but I will from now on. Your pictures are great.
ReplyDeleteThe roses are gorgeous! I like the moss too but I hear that many Southerners are not so fond of it.
ReplyDeleteThe rose is beautiful, and I also like the Spanish Moss on trees. We have never visited Poplar Grove, but we have been to Orton Gardens, an old rice plantation just south of Wilmington.
ReplyDeleteThe roses are beautiful. I love Spanish moss. I always enjoy seeing it when I'm in Wilmington or Beaufort NC. Those are two places where I see it the most.
ReplyDeletelovely rose and spanish moss-I have seen some probably in Hawaii?
ReplyDeleteHey, this is Rajib. Just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say hello. The pictures are beautiful and I am in love with these Spanish Moss, these roses. I'll surely revisit your blog for more interesting updates.
ReplyDeleteI too love to see those big old trees draped with moss. It is so "Southern". I always know when I am down south when I see this.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful rose and Spanish moss. Great photos.
ReplyDeleteBeatiful roses, Sandy! The Spanish Moss is pretty.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful roses, and I really like the drapey Spanish moss. We have something similar here called "Lace Lichen." It looks like a light green lacy fabric hanging from oak trees near creeks and lakes. Lichen is a symbiotic relationship between algae and a fungus. I think Spanish Moss is also a hanging lichen.
ReplyDeleteRoses are always so joyful. Very beautiful pictures, Sandy.
ReplyDeletenobody can ignore a rose.:p i love the second photo--the Spanish moss gives this scene a romantic feel.
ReplyDeleteRoses, like all of us, come and go and each one leaves memories behind.
ReplyDeleteLovely Spanish moss. I have it growing in my shade house. It is very effective in covering the top of a pot when showing orchids.
I love the moss hanging! And the roses and such a pretty color. :)
ReplyDeleteOne beautiful rose to make for one beautiful day.!
ReplyDeletebeautiful captures!
ReplyDeleteThanks for being here.
