I found a clump of that exact iris on the side of the road (by I-95 and probably where a home had existed, now long torn down). Per my mom's advice, I always travel with a shallow bucket and trowel in the trunk of my car. Out I got, dug up part of it took it home and planted it at our home. She's still beautiful all these years later!
Disclaimer: I never dig anywhere other than roadsides and like places. (i.e., no personal yards, cemeteries, etc. :-)!
Beautiful; here the cemeteries has the most beautiful trees and plants, it is always a joy to take a walk there; I love the serenity and tranquility, despite the melancholy. xo

What strikes me with Irises is that their petals if not only supple could be mistaken as orchids. I rarely see Iris outside the blue or purple colour.
ReplyDeleteA poignant title to go with this beautiful image.
ReplyDeleteIf you have the time to stop by, my post is right here,
Have a great week Sandy.
I spend a lot of time taking photo flowers too.
