One Single Impression: Icarus

No shame
No loss
No failure

In flying so close
To the sun

That you melt like honey
And slip down the throat
Of morning

The liquid perfume of magic light
That becomes the breath of earth
And rises in the shy mist of dawn
Like a secret.

No shame
No loss
No failure

In flying so close
That you return to earth

As a dream
And a story

The truth in the soul
Of day:
Life is beautiful.

So fly.
You can't go wrong.

  12. Beautiful Sandy. There really is something heroic about Icarus. Your poem made me think about how the flight of Icarus was really a natural event; wax and feathers. The inclination to soar ever higher is just as natural.

  17. Flying close to the sun seems like a commentary on taking risk. If we take risks, sometimes we fail (fall). But, with great risk, comes great reward. If we fall we must get up and try again. You describe this so well. Good morning, friend. Rob

  25. Sandy, you sold me! Your second calling might be a salesperson. Or is it a bill of goods that I bought?
