One Single Impression: Reign

Years ago when I'd come by
She'd smack the water
With her tail and dive

Before I even saw her.

Now she is grown
Huge and unafraid.

When I come by now
She stops and turns and watches
For as long as I can stand it.

She does not move.
I do not move.

Then she swims out and back
Profiling.

Out the othe way and back again
Profiling.

She plays with me.
She can.
It's her pond.

I merely walk through
Her landscape.

  13. Interacting with animals in nature is always a special thing. I cycle a lot and have had many instances over the years where I have ridden up on an animal. One time I came upon a deer and stopped by the side of the road. The deer was probably 30 feet away and we just stared at each other for a couple of minutes before the deer scampered away. How cool is that? Happy Mother's Day Sandy.

  24. I really like the way you describe your encounters with these creatures as ongoing stories with history and a relationship attached. Indeed, how could it be otherwise....
