Out and about early Sunday morning, I found myself just plain enjoying the way the morning light moved horizontally across the landscape and played with my perception of depth and dark. Looking up was a visual adventure.
I see what you mean. At first glance, the branch in foreground that's shaded looks like a shadow of the one in background that's lit. And since we don't expect to see a shadow in front of something that's lit, our eye automatically assigns the foreground branch to the background. But there's still something not-right about that arrangement because the shadow is still across the front of the...
It does look like a Halloween tree! And your beautiful blue skies do look "heavenly"! We're SO gray here and have been for several days, so I enjoyed yours all the more!
Hello Sandy..I posted now..I was outside... The sky is so blue...a color that dont see here since this morning. congrats Have a nice friday http://graceolsson.se/mittliv/2009/10/29/yet-another-autumn-dayannu-annan-host-dag-at-skywatchfriday/
When I read Mojo's comment, I realized that she had summed up that effect so perfectly!! The shadow appears to be in front of the object being shadowed!! I realize full well that the nearer branches are still in shadow while the upper branches have caught the morning light, but I like the other description better!!
Halloween Rhorshach blots and strange sorts or marionettes spring to my mind! I love the contrast between the dark leaves, the light on the branches and that brilliant blue sky
Lovely shot. Such imagination as yours at work, I can imagine how many things you saw in that leaf fallen tree! I know I see many things that make me smile! Sandi
I love the light and dark of those branches against so blue a sky! Bare naked trees are my one consolation for winter's arrival; I hate the cold but oh, those trees are lovely!
It sounds as though you had a lovely walk Sandy. My eyes see halloween goblins in the dark areas... wow to the imagination. And ooh la la to your blue sky, it has been a while since I have seen that here. Spirithelpers
