Though many of the apples we picked on Sunday were dinged-up or pock-marked from te hail storm that had kicked off our summer, they were nonetheless juicy and sweet--and perfect. There's nothing better than a sun-warmed apple straight off the branch--except watching my daughter and nephews do the picking and holding up each apple like a treasure. Every autumn, it's the same old thing around here. Thank God.

ReplyDeleteI use to love climbing the crab apple trees behind our house when I was a young teenager. No matter how sour, we always ate a few of them!
ReplyDeleteI love the pumpkin photo! It looks like they've been set adrift in a sea of green, waiting to be plucked up and carved.
Oh, yes! I love the pumpkin shot, too! Beautiful, moody clouds and the apple is beautiful even with a hole in it! Marvelous feeling of fall!
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend, Sandy!

At first I thought those were apples on the grass but everyone is talking about pumpkins. . . so why are they on the grass like that? On eposter semed to think that they wee growing there but there are no vines and it looks odd to me.

Sandy, my teeth are itching to sink into that apple and I'd love a couple of those pumpkins too.
ReplyDeleteHere the pumpkins are not even flowering yet.
Wow, what a dramatic sky, followed by some wonderful colour of the apple and those pumpkins! Great shots all.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the pumpkins are wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of the heat around hear so I enjoyed your apple picking journey in cooler weather.
ReplyDeleteSandy, I love those sweet juicy apple bites straight off from the tree. There is one sign I could tell if the apple is very sweet. Just look at the core of the fruit and the crystalline-like being formed inside will tell you to bite it without delay.
ReplyDeleteOn another high note, goodness! Look at those pumpkins!
Years ago, I used to bake Pumpkin Cake and take them to church for our after service expanded fellowship we call here Afternoon or Morning Tea which in American term is simply Snack. What a word!
If I'll find the recipe, I'll share it with you if you like. :)
Hello Sandy! Love the sky -so calming! That apple is perfectly IMperfect! :) And the pumpkin scattered along that green is art itself!
ReplyDeleteOh, that sky shot, with the clouds rolling across like waves coming in at the seashore... Thank you for sharing.

Sharing in the harvest and bounty of nature is a wonderful way to spend the day!
ReplyDeletei love the apple picture...the redness is perfect against the blue sky...feels very welcoming!
ReplyDeleteeng
Beautiful! And those pumpkins look like bright boats bobbing on a sea of grass!
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures... almost makes me like this season, which I generally find depressing. There's something encouraging about the apple. Despite the blemish, it's still a good apple. Maybe there's some kind of metaphor for people in there.
ReplyDeleteSuch a gift -- the delicious apples and the wonder in the children's eyes. You've captured them both.
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend!
The first pic looks rather angry. Is it?

ReplyDeleteBeautiful skies over your pumpkin patch! We bought apples and peaches (both got hit by hail in June) from orchards, but our pumpkins came from the grocery store.
ReplyDeleteThe sky is magnificent! The apple looks a wee bit neglected but that field of pumpkins seems like a painting. :)
ReplyDeleteThat pumpkin patch image is PERFECT! Just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkins are perfect, the apple perfect in its imperfection. Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteThe pumkins are amazing!
ReplyDeletewow a lot of pumpkins here! lovely photos Sandy!
ReplyDeletewe had the pumpkin festival in half moon bay this last week. i have not been there before as to go means you have to leave early in the morning as the traffic takes hours. they showed it last weekend and many of the patches were flooded. hoping they got it all cleaned up by this weekend!
ReplyDeleteLove the sky in the first one and the pumpkins in the last one... Apple's not my favorite fruit off late but the details in the capture are amazing! Is the pumpkin photo, a HDR?
