Last week dad showed me this iris in his garden. It magically appeared with a dozen or so others after the umpteenth deluge of the season. How and when photosynthesis takes place around here, I don't know. But, as dad says, that'll make a believer out of you. It's all possible.

I have an Iris very similar to this one. It is called Seagull. I always think of gull wings when I see this blooming in my garden. It never fails to lift my spirit upon its delicate wings.
I had a water Iris similar to this and thought I would snap it in the morning as the light was going....... however a snail got there first & chomped through the stem. It keeled over!
Beautiful picture. Perfection.
Our irises have pretty much already come and gone here. But I love yours. (The photo and the title.) Those delicate wet folds and contours ... they're almost hypnotic.
And if memory serves (which is anything but guaranteed) photosynthesis only requires light -- not necessarily "sun".
Wonderful post & pic!
My blog is not updating in readers ;-(

Funny, I just came in from the rain where I was taking photos of white iris with yellow centers~
That is so beautiful, and I love how it's glistening. There is something about solid white flowers that I love, especially when they are wet.
Beautiful flower, even better with the tiny droplets on the petals.

i love the beautiful detail of this lovely macro shot! The detail is so crisp! Great pic Sandy, my dear friend!
Sandy: Well you can get too much of a good thing. At least you don't get 5" at a time like they do in Florida.
I am not sure why but your beautiful iris reminds me of a ballet dancer. It is exquisite, especially with the rain dancing on its petals. Oh dear, maybe it's time for me to go to bed. I am getting a little bit too 'flowery' but I do love your photo. Thank you for sharing it.
I love how water drops on a white flower just sparkle, it is such a beautiful sight. Lovely photo as always.
Have a wonderful week,
Judy
You captured it wonderfully.

Very pretty with the teeny droplets. The petals look like wings of butterflies flapping. Thank you for the rain!

I see an angel with her wings wide open. : )
What I find most beautiful is that your Dad still gardens, and shows you his favorites.
Remember my post about "Shorts"? Well, the Grim Reaper HAS moved on to one of the groups I nominated! I am overcome with smugliness!
