Last week dad showed me this iris in his garden. It magically appeared with a dozen or so others after the umpteenth deluge of the season. How and when photosynthesis takes place around here, I don't know. But, as dad says, that'll make a believer out of you. It's all possible.

I have an Iris very similar to this one. It is called Seagull. I always think of gull wings when I see this blooming in my garden. It never fails to lift my spirit upon its delicate wings.
ReplyDeleteI had a water Iris similar to this and thought I would snap it in the morning as the light was going....... however a snail got there first & chomped through the stem. It keeled over!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful picture. Perfection.
Our irises have pretty much already come and gone here. But I love yours. (The photo and the title.) Those delicate wet folds and contours ... they're almost hypnotic.
ReplyDeleteAnd if memory serves (which is anything but guaranteed) photosynthesis only requires light -- not necessarily "sun".
Wonderful post & pic!

ReplyDeleteI am not sure why but your beautiful iris reminds me of a ballet dancer. It is exquisite, especially with the rain dancing on its petals. Oh dear, maybe it's time for me to go to bed. I am getting a little bit too 'flowery' but I do love your photo. Thank you for sharing it.
