Skywatch Friday: Winchester, Connecticut

Halftime during my daughter's last soccer game last Saturday in Winchester, Connecticut, had me daydreaming and taking in the views. To my right was this empty old factory, and to my left, a Roman Catholic Church. After a week of rain, everything was soft and clean--and the tall grass made a lovely cushion from which to enjoy the view--and nap in the sun during half time. The views stayed soft, but I emerged feeling crispy.

  1. I especially like how you caught the windows on both sides of the building in the factory. . . isn't it something how we take photos of things we might never have taken with a camera say 20 years ago and not digital? I;m glad you did because it was a real treat.

  4. Love that last line!!! ;<)

I agree about the rain, how cleansing and renewing it is. I wish some would fall here in BC. The forest fires loom ever near.

You make me miss my hammock. I use to love laying out to read a book, knowing full well the sun would sing me to sleep. Lovely, Sandy.

  6. I love the two together: two sides of our lives, most of us, with a job taking care of our earthly needs, and the church taking care of our heavenly ones. What a wonderful pair--happy skywatching Sandy, I love those blue skies!

  9. That's what napping in the sun will do to you. You crisp right up!

But wow... even the abandoned factories in your world are pretty. At least the way you shoot 'em they are.

  50. Wonderful shots.

I really like how you caught that through shot of the sky in the windows of the building..

Everything is lush and green here, as well, after all the rain that we have had. Makes a change from the usual dry brown !

  51. Super shots---the old factory looks so clean after the rain. MB

  52. We've had more rain than usual too. Things are greener earlier. It's nice, although we don't have tall grass in the high desert. Tall wildflowers, however, are in abundance on the roadsides.

Love those windows in windows. Very evocative. And there's nothing quite like a church spire against the heavens to make the spirit soar.
