Isn't Gettysburg a great place? I like that whole general area and especially the antique shops. You've got great shots. I wouldn't want to have to wear all of that garb -- especially when needing a break to the ladies' room.
When I was a little girl I would often daydream of living during this era. This was before I went to school or knew anything about this era. I would see myself in one of these long dresses and I would erase that scene from my mind because I always wanted one of those buckskin suites that I saw on tv with the fringe. I would still like one of those suites. ha... Where would I wear it?? tee hee... You brought up a long lost memory with these pictures. BTW Happy Earth Day.
now, i'll just have to see mr. abe lincoln to complete the series!... love those sweeping skirts... but i know, no matter how hard i wish for it, it won't come back in fashion :)...
What amazing shop windows. One would think of having been transported right back in time to a bygone era. Great shots of these quaint little shop windows.
I enjoyed looking at your photos Sandy. I love old-world craft and antique shops like this! Reminded me of a mini series I saw on tv a long time ago here called North and South.

ReplyDeleteMy favorites are the cabinet in the 2nd one . . . and the drums. . . so sad and worn makes me wonder what they have been through.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shop windows, Sandy. There must be a large choice of items there.
ReplyDeleteThose windows do say a bit about the times.
ReplyDeleteWas that a so-called 'cigar store Indian' in that third shot? Haven't seen one of those in years. These shop windows are like museum displays.
ReplyDeleteThose Victorian dresses are lovely.
ReplyDeleteA pity they're not worn anymore.
Nice shots of all the displays :)
I love the first shot! I have often wished I lived in a time of that style of clothing, a time when hats were worn.
ReplyDeleteBut then I realize I'd have no washer and drier, or central Heat and Air! Yikes.
PS> Note the WiFi sign under the Indian! :-D

LOVE these; Harpers Ferry WV and Frederick MD are faves of mine too, for historical-style shopping. If I ever win a lottery, I'll be there...
